Job Details

  • Must be between the ages of 25 and 45
  • Must be able to speak professionally and know a commercial policy wording.
  • Must have at least 2 years’ experience in short-term insurance and in particular commercial lines products (either underwriting or claims)
  • Salary expectation: between R 25 000 and R 35 000

Key Responsibilities:


Risk Assessment:

Evaluate clients’ specific insurance needs to ensure that they are comprehensively insured. You will also need to explain to the clients where they are not covered.


Policy Determination:

Determine appropriate coverage and policy terms based on risk assessments, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and company guidelines.


Underwriting Guidelines:

Apply underwriting guidelines and industry best practices to make informed decisions regarding policy issuance, modifications, or rejections.


Market Knowledge:

Stay informed about market trends, industry developments, and regulatory changes to adapt underwriting strategies accordingly.


Policy Documentation:

Prepare and issue policy documents, ensuring accuracy and completeness of information, and maintain detailed records of underwriting decisions.



Ensure compliance with local and international insurance regulations, maintaining a thorough understanding of the legal framework within South Africa.


Claims Analysis:

Assist in the analysis of claims data to identify patterns and trends, contributing insights to improve underwriting processes.


Continuous Learning:

Stay updated on industry advancements, underwriting technologies, and emerging risks to enhance professional knowledge and skills.


Customer Service:

Provide excellent customer service by promptly addressing inquiries, concerns, and providing information related to underwriting decisions.
