Job Scope / expectations

  1. Normal working hours are 07:30 – 16:30, Monday to Friday.
  2. Able to travel – locally, nationally and internationally.

Qualifications

  1. Tertiary Qualification in Design or Design and Development-related field.
  2. Sheetmetal and Surfacing experience will be advantageous.

Experience

  1. Minimum of 7+ years of work experience, within Design and Development field.

Professional Skills

  1. Track record of success and/or contactable references.
  2. Proven experience as a Design Engineer or similar role.
  3. Successful track record in designing, developing and producing products to market.
  4. Strong knowledge of design principles and techniques across various processes.
  5. Solid understanding of Product Development, Prototyping and Production methods.
  6. Proficient in using required software, processes and equipment efficiently.
  7. Computer proficiency: Solidworks, MasterCAM and MS Office Software as well as the ability to learn equipment related software
  8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Afrikaans.
  9. Excellent self-management practices.
  10. Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including Customers, Partners, and Staff.

Always on deliverables

  1. Monitor and analyse Design metrics, such as Design efficiency, Manufacturability, and Production costs.
  2. Evaluate Design effectiveness and make data-driven decisions.
  3. Financial Responsibilities
  4. Set Design & Development Targets for Products.
  5. Obtain + maintain set targets.
  6. Develop and manage the Development budget for specific projects, ensuring optimal allocation of resources to maximize ROI.

Strategy and Planning

  1. Strategic Planning and Risk Assessment to grow the brands and product ranges.
  2. Develop and implement comprehensive Development strategies to promote our products and achieve business objectives.
  3. Conduct market research and analysis to identify customer needs, preferences, and trends, and use the findings to shape Development strategies.
  4. Infuse local expertise & knowledge into brand plans for tailored and localized approaches.
  5. Stay up to date with industry trends and competitor activities and propose innovative Product Development approaches to maintain a competitive edge.

Team Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create and execute Product Development plans, including Design, Prototyping and Production.
  2. Working closely with the Design Teams for the development of new Products.
  3. Monitor performance and progress with Design Teams on a regular basis.

Reporting and Evaluation

  1. Assess and Evaluate Product Development plans and initiatives.
  2. Table conclusions and learnings for future applications.
