A comprehensive and modern steel service centre is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Production Manager to oversee their operations. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Oversee day-to-day production activities, ensuring efficiency, quality, and adherence to production schedules 
  • Develop and implement production plans and strategies to optimize workflow and maximize output 
  • Monitor production metrics and performance indicators, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed 
  • Lead and mentor production teams, providing guidance, training, and support to foster a culture of continuous improvement 
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as engineering, procurement, and quality assurance, to coordinate production activities and resolve any issues that may arise 
  • Maintain a safe working environment by enforcing safety policies and procedures and promoting awareness of safety practices among staff 
  • Manage inventory levels and production resources to minimize waste and reduce costs 
  • Prepare reports and presentations on production performance, trends, and forecasts for management review 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Production Management, or a related field 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a production management role within the metal/steel works industry 
  • Proven track record of successfully managing production processes and teams 
  • In-depth knowledge of fabrication techniques, machinery, and materials used in the metalworking industry 
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide teams towards achieving production targets 
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing operational challenges 
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written 
  • Proficiency in MS Office and other relevant software applications 
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and compliance standards
