A sports club and events venue in Durban is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Food and Beverage Manager to lead their culinary and beverage operations at the sports club, with a specific focus on the profitability of the restaurant, bar, and events venue. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maximizing revenue, controlling costs, and ensuring an exceptional customer experience.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES, NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the restaurant, bar, and events venue, ensuring high-quality service, high-quality food, customer satisfaction and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase profitability, focusing on revenue growth and cost control measures.
  • Analyse financial reports and performance metrics to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities for cost savings.
  • Enhance controls to minimise theft and stock loss, and continually maintain accurate records of stock and cash floats.
  • Increase kitchen efficiency by streamlining processes and reducing waste.
  • Train, manage and motivate the team, including junior managers.
  • Analyse reports and collaborate with the team and customers to design and create menus that align with customer preferences.
  • Lead marketing efforts for the events venue, creating and executing campaigns to attract bookings and increase visibility.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers, negotiating favourable terms to enhance profitability,
  • Maintain correct stock levels by finding optimal re-order levels and quantities and ensuring adherence thereto.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Implement and monitor health and safety protocols to ensure a secure, sanitised environment that is compliant with all licenses and regulations.

REQUIREMENTS  

  • Proven experience as a Restaurant, Bar and Venue Manager, preferably in a sports club or hospitality setting.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience in analyzing performance metrics to drive profitability.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse team.
  • Understanding of inventory management, cost control, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Marketing experience, particularly in promoting events venues, is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of current food and beverage trends, and the ability to adapt offerings accordingly.
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of Pilot an added advantage. Alternatively, the ability to extract data and analyse it.
