A FinTech solutions group providing financial B2B and B2C services across Southern Africa, is looking for an experienced and visionary Chief Information Officer (CIO) to lead the IT Department.  

The CIO will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of IT strategies that align with the company’s business goals. The role requires a strong leader who can drive technological innovation, ensure the security and reliability of the company’s systems, and manage a diverse team of IT professionals.  


  • Strategic Leadership: 
    • Develop and implement the company’s IT strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals 
    • Provide leadership in technology innovation to enhance our fintech offerings 
    • Oversee IT budgets, forecasts, and performance metrics 
    • Advise the executive team on technological trends and competitive threats 
  • Operational Management: 
    • Ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of our card payment switching mechanisms and hardware security modules 
    • Oversee the management and development of terminal and Android software solutions 
    • Ensure seamless integration by third parties to our value-added services 
  • Team Leadership: 
    • Lead and mentor a team of IT professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement 
    • Manage relationships with external vendors, partners, and stakeholders 
    • Develop and maintain IT policies, procedures, and best practices 
  • Project Management: 
    • Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of IT projects 
    • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget 
    • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between IT and other departments 


  • Education and Experience: 
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field 
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT leadership roles, with a focus on fintech or financial services 
    • Proven track record of managing complex IT systems and infrastructure 
  • Technical Skills: 
    • Experience with card payment switching mechanisms and hardware security modules 
    • Experience with terminal and Android software management 
    • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices 
    • Proficiency in monitoring systems and site reliability engineering (SRE) practices 
  • Leadership and Communication: 
    • Excellent leadership and team management skills 
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities 
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills 
    • Ability to work collaboratively with executive leadership and cross-functional teams 
  • Project Management: 
    • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

    • Experience with project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, ITIL)
