We're going to be direct with you. This is one of the hardest sales roles you'll find in South Africa. It is also one of the most rewarding — financially and professionally — for the right person. As an Outbound Sales Executive at The Company, you are a hunter. You build your own pipeline. You make the cold calls, attend the networking events, work the room at conferences, travel nationally, and show up face-to-face when that's what it takes. You are selling working capital to South African business owners — people who run real businesses, face real cash flow pressures, and need a funder who moves fast. The cycle is short (typically around 2 weeks from application to funding). But getting to that application? That takes persistence. Our data tells us merchants need to hear about The Company at least 3 times before they're ready to apply. You play the long game — and you still have to hit your monthly funded target while you do it. If that sounds like your version of a good day at work, keep reading.

 

What You'll Actually Do

  • Prospect and build your own pipeline from scratch - cold calls, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, walk-ins, referrals, events.
  • Attend networking events, industry conferences, and business expos
  • Travel nationally (primarily Gauteng, with approximately 2 weeks in other regions per year)
  • Meet business owners face-to-face and build genuine relationships over multiple touchpoints
  • Manage your own lead nurturing manually - you own your pipeline.
  • Understand your merchants' businesses well enough to navigate the credit process intelligently
  • Negotiate with the credit team to get the best possible deal for your merchant - and close it
  • Hit your monthly funded targets. Every month.

 

What We're Looking For - You don't need a degree. You need a track record. Show us numbers.

Backgrounds that tend to do well here:

  • Merchant services or POS device sales or BNPL platforms (selling directly to business owners)
  • Door-to-door SME sales
  • Real estate (especially if you self-sourced your deals)
  • Alternative lending or cash advance or insurance brokers
  • Any role where you sold directly to the owner of a small or medium business

 

What doesn't work here:

  • Banking. Banks move slowly. We don't. If your instinct is to escalate and wait, this will be a difficult adjustment.
  • Corporate B2B (big company selling to big company). We sell to entrepreneurs. Different animal entirely.
  • Roles where leads were handed to you. We don't hand you a warm pipeline.

 

The Non-Negotiables

  • Hustle - You have to want it. Every day. Especially on the days when nothing is working.
  • Resilience You'll hear no - a lot. Then you'll hear it again. Then you'll fund the deal.
  • Cognitive ability - This role involves understanding business financials, navigating credit decisions, and closing complex deals.
  • Volume discipline - You're managing a pipeline, not waiting for one deal to close.
  • SME-facing experience - You must have sold directly to business owners. This is a hard requirement.

 

What You'll Earn

Basic salary + uncapped commission. The basic covers the floor. The commission structure is where the real earning happens. Our top performer earned R1.1m last year. If money motivates you, this is where you want to be.

NB: This is not a role to join for the base. Join for what you can build on top of it.
