Chief Financial Officer
This is a pivotal leadership role steering the finance function for a complex, multi-site gaming and entertainment group. You'll be the strategic financial backbone of the organisation, working closely with the CEO and executive team to drive disciplined capital management, robust governance, and reliable reporting in a highly regulated environment. This isn't about managing spreadsheets from the sidelines – you'll be deeply embedded in shaping strategy, engaging with shareholders, lenders, regulators and boards, and translating business ambition into financial reality.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead strategic finance planning: Partner with leadership to evaluate growth opportunities, develop budgets and rolling forecasts, and establish performance targets that translate strategy into action
Own financial reporting: Deliver accurate, timely monthly management accounts and annual IFRS financial statements, managing complex group consolidation, intercompany structures and diverse revenue streams
Ensure regulatory compliance: Navigate gaming legislation, licence conditions, AML/FICA obligations, tax and exchange control requirements; maintain effective governance with Legal and Compliance teams
Manage banking and treasury: Oversee liquidity, cash forecasting, working capital management, banking relationships, debt structuring and covenant compliance; lead lender reporting and funding negotiations
Drive stakeholder credibility: Act as the trusted interface to shareholders, boards, audit committees, lenders, external auditors and regulators; manage competing priorities with clear, defensible positions
Strengthen financial governance: Build robust internal controls, delegations of authority, procurement controls and risk management frameworks; lead audit outcomes and remediation
Optimise performance: Drive profitability through margin analysis, cost control, unit economics and operational KPI dashboards across sites; build visibility into yield, customer metrics and marketing ROI
Lead finance transformation: Own the finance technology landscape (ERP, consolidation tools, BI platforms, payroll systems); ensure data integrity, controls and scalable reporting
Support commercial deals: Provide financial leadership on contracts, leases, supplier agreements, content deals and sponsorships through modelling, pricing and risk assessment
Build your team: Develop a high-performing finance function across accounting, tax, treasury and payroll; drive capability, succession and a culture of accountability
WHAT YOU BRING
Senior finance experience in a CFO/FD role (or clear readiness for it) within a multi-entity, operationally complex organisation
Proven track record in a regulated environment (gaming, financial services, telecoms, alcohol or healthcare); demonstrated ability to engage with regulators and manage audit examinations
Hands-on expertise with debt facilities, covenants, refinancing, treasury and cash management
Deep IFRS knowledge applied to complex groups: consolidation, business combinations, leases, revenue recognition and related disclosures
Strong exposure to group consolidation, statutory reporting cycles and external audit management
Experience leading finance transformation, ERP implementations or systems upgrades strongly preferred
Advanced skills in budgeting, forecasting, scenario modelling and performance analytics
Strong commercial modelling skills with ability to challenge assumptions constructively
Ability to manage complex stakeholder groups and balance commercial outcomes with governance requirements
YOUR IMPACT (FIRST 12–18 MONTHS)
Deliver clean, timely month-end close and high-quality board and lender reporting to agreed schedules
Achieve unqualified audit outcomes and demonstrably strengthen internal controls and compliance
Ensure proactive covenant compliance and optimise banking relationships through successful refinancing where needed
Improve forecast accuracy and visibility of cash, liquidity and site-level performance drivers
Establish a clear finance operating model with capable direct reports and documented critical processes
Build constructive, credible engagement with regulators with zero avoidable breaches
QUALIFICATIONS
Qualified CA(SA) or equivalent internationally recognised accounting qualification preferred
Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance minimum; postgraduate qualification (CTA/MBA) advantageous
Ongoing CPD in IFRS and regulatory compliance expected
