Senior Business Intelligence Specialist

 

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Intelligence Specialist to play a key role within our Data Insights team. This position is suited to a BI professional who has progressed beyond execution-focused work and is ready to lead complex analytics initiatives, shape BI standards, influence strategic decision-making, and act as a trusted data partner to the business.

You will deliver high-quality insights and reporting while raising the overall maturity of BI practices, mentoring analysts, and driving a strong culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Advanced BI & Strategic Delivery

• Own end-to-end delivery of complex BI solutions (discovery, modelling, reporting, adoption).
• Translate business problems into analytical frameworks and scalable reporting solutions.
• Ensure accuracy, reliability, and on-time delivery of insights.
• Identify gaps, risks, and opportunities in existing reporting.

Strategic Insights & Stakeholder Partnership

• Deliver insight-driven analysis with actionable recommendations.
• Lead executive-level storytelling and presentations.
• Partner with senior stakeholders across product, sales, finance, and operations.
• Proactively monitor KPIs and investigate emerging trends.

BI Leadership & Initiative Ownership

• Lead large or cross-functional BI initiatives.
• Set analytical direction, timelines, and expectations.
• Act as escalation point for complex delivery or data quality issues.
• Influence BI roadmap, tooling, and ways of working.

Mentorship & Team Enablement

• Coach and mentor junior and intermediate analysts.
• Improve team capability in analytics, technical skills, and storytelling.
• Support onboarding and knowledge sharing.

Quality, Governance & Standards

• Define and enforce BI standards (data models, metrics, dashboards).
• Maintain documentation, data dictionaries, and KPI frameworks.
• Partner with Data Engineering to improve data quality and scalability.

Culture & Data Advocacy

• Promote a high-performance, inclusive, and accountable team culture.
• Champion data literacy and data-driven decision-making.

Minimum Requirements

• 5+ years’ experience in BI or data analytics
• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, or similar
• Advanced SQL and Power BI (DAX, M, data modelling)
• Proven end-to-end BI delivery experience
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills
• Experience mentoring or leading initiatives

Technical Skills
