Job Purpose
The Creditors Controller is responsible for the accurate, complete, and timely processing and reconciliation of restaurant supplier accounts at head office level. The role acts as a key liaison between restaurant operations, suppliers, and the finance team, ensuring adherence to financial controls, accounting standards, and internal procedures.
Competence Requirements Knowledge and Experience Required
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and their practical application
- Proven experience in bookkeeping and creditor management
- Experience working with accounting systems and financial reconciliations
- Solid Excel skills, including basic formulas and worksheet analysis
- Understanding of VAT principles and control accounts
- Relevant accounting or finance qualification

Key Outputs and Accountabilities 1. Creditors – Direct Suppliers
- Act as the primary point of contact between restaurant administration teams and head office finance
- Serve as a central liaison between multiple suppliers and head office
- Receive, review, and validate all supplier documentation from restaurant administration to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Match transactions on the accounting system to supporting documentation to ensure valid, complete, and accurate capture
- Maintain orderly and compliant filing of all creditor documentation
- Ensure adherence to disciplines, controls, and procedures (DCPs) relating to documentation prepared by receiving departments, cash offices, and administration teams
- Identify and report non-compliance with controls to management
- Perform daily reconciliation of sales and purchases between operational systems and the accounting system
- Prepare creditor reconciliations and submit them to management within agreed deadlines
- Resolve outstanding supplier queries and claims timeously
2. Bookkeeping and Financial Duties
- Capture month-end journals, including depreciation, accruals, and stock-related entries
- Maintain and reconcile VAT control accounts
- Perform monthly analysis of income and expenses to ensure completeness, accuracy, and validity
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements
- Highlight favourable and unfavourable expense trends
- Identify and report risks relating to financial controls
- Prepare monthly management packs for review
- Prepare and reconcile balance sheet control accounts on a monthly basis
- Assist with the preparation of monthly VAT returns for submission
- Analyse and capture monthly restaurant petty cash reconciliations
- Perform additional finance-related tasks as requested by the direct manager
