E&I Engineer
Lead the charge on electrical and instrumentation excellence. This role puts you at the heart of mining operations, where your technical expertise and leadership drive the delivery of world-class E&I solutions that keep projects running safely and efficiently.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
• Head the E&I Department, setting the strategic direction for electrical and instrumentation specifications, project requirements, and governance across mining operations
• Liaise with E&I service providers and contractors, ensuring all deliverables meet specifications, industry standards, and project requirements
• Develop and implement E&I technical standards, procedures, and best practices tailored to the mining environment
• Oversee electrical distribution systems, instrumentation, control systems (PLCs, DCS, SCADA), and hazardous area classifications
• Manage cross-functional interfaces between E&I engineering and other disciplines including process, mechanical, civil, project management, and procurement teams
• Conduct technical reviews and audits of E&I designs and installations to ensure compliance, constructability, and operational reliability
• Champion cost-competitive execution and value engineering initiatives to optimise electrical and instrumentation processes
• Monitor project performance against budgets, schedules, and quality benchmarks, providing regular reporting and risk assessments
• Lead and mentor E&I engineering teams and coordinate with external service providers to deliver integrated project solutions
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or equivalent qualification
• Minimum 12 years of hands-on experience in electrical and instrumentation engineering within mining, heavy industrial, or process environments
• Strong technical knowledge of high-, medium-, and low-voltage power distribution systems, MCCs, substations, grounding, lighting, and hazardous area classifications
• Proven expertise with instrumentation and control systems including PLCs, DCS, SCADA, field instrumentation, and communication networks
• Demonstrated leadership and team-building capabilities with the ability to influence cross-functional collaboration
• Experience with effort-hour estimating, resource planning, project scheduling, and progress reporting
• Professional certification or registration in your field (as required by location)
• Ability to work under pressure, adapt to changing priorities, and operate effectively in dynamic project environments
• Strong communication skills and the ability to interact confidently with management, colleagues, clients, and stakeholders
