Job Description: Procurement Manager / Supply Chain Manager ________________________________________ Job Title Procurement Manager / Supply Chain Manager ________________________________________ Purpose of the Role To manage and optimise the end-to-end supply chain, ensuring the timely, cost-effective, and compliant procurement of goods and services to support operational requirements. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities Procurement Management • Develop and implement procurement strategies • Manage sourcing, tendering, and supplier selection • Ensure competitive pricing and cost control • Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers ________________________________________ Supply Chain Coordination • Oversee the full supply chain process (procurement → logistics → delivery) • Ensure timely availability of materials and critical spares • Coordinate with operations, stores, and finance ________________________________________ Inventory & Stock Control • Monitor stock levels and ensure optimal inventory • Prevent stock-outs and overstocking • Work closely with stores to manage critical spares ________________________________________ Compliance & Governance • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures • Maintain proper documentation and audit trails • Ensure adherence to ethical procurement practices ________________________________________ Supplier Management • Develop and maintain supplier relationships • Evaluate supplier performance (cost, quality, delivery) • Manage supplier risks and alternatives ________________________________________ Cost Control & Budget Management • Monitor procurement spend • Identify cost-saving opportunities • Report on budget vs actual ________________________________________ Reporting & Performance • Prepare procurement and supply chain reports • Track KPIs (cost savings, lead time, supplier performance) • Provide insights to management ________________________________________ Team Leadership (if managerial role) • Supervise procurement and stores staff • Develop team capability • Ensure performance management ________________________________________ Key Duties in Mining Environment • Ensure availability of critical spares (e.g. pumps, bearings, cables) • Manage emergency procurement • Work with maintenance and production teams • Control high-value and long lead-time items ________________________________________Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) • Cost savings achieved • On-time delivery rate • Stock availability • Supplier performance • Compliance / audit results ________________________________________ Minimum Requirements Education • Diploma / Degree in Supply Chain / Procurement / Logistics ________________________________________ Experience • 5–10 years in procurement / supply chain • Mining or industrial experience preferred ________________________________________ Skills • Negotiation skills • ERP systems (e.g. Sage 300 / SAP) • Analytical and problem-solving skills • Strong communication ________________________________________ Competencies • Integrity and ethics • Attention to detail • Cost awareness • Decision-making • Ability to work under pressure
