Operations Manager
Step into a high-impact operations role at the sharp end of mining and logistics, where production, people, and safety all come together. This Operations Manager position sits at the heart of a fast-moving, asset-intensive environment, keeping sites running smoothly, safely, and profitably while balancing costs, compliance, and community expectations.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Operational Management
Oversee site operations, including production, logistics, and on-the-ground activities
Ensure production targets and operational KPIs are consistently achieved
Manage daily operational schedules, shift coverage, and resource allocation
Monitor equipment utilisation, uptime, and operational efficiency across the site
Coordinate planned maintenance and downtime to minimise production disruption
Safety, Health & Environmental Compliance
Ensure full compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act and all relevant regulations
Drive a strong zero-harm culture with visible safety leadership on site
Conduct and oversee risk assessments, incident investigations, and corrective actions
Monitor environmental compliance and adherence to operational standards
Lead safety meetings, enforce SOPs, and promote continuous safety awareness
People Management
Lead and manage supervisors, foremen, operators, and contractors on site
Oversee workforce planning, shift structures, and manning levels
Handle performance management, coaching, and disciplinary processes where needed
Support training, upskilling, and competency development for site teams
Foster engagement, teamwork, and stable labour relations
Financial & Cost Control
Manage operational budgets and keep tight control of site costs
Track overtime, fuel, maintenance, and production-related expenditure
Identify inefficiencies and drive productivity and cost improvements
Support procurement processes and contractor management from a cost perspective
Strategic & Production Planning
Implement operational strategies aligned to broader business and production goals
Analyse production reports, data, and trends to guide decision-making
Drive continuous improvement across processes, systems, and performance
Manage operational risks and develop practical contingency plans
Report operational performance and key metrics to senior leadership
Reporting & Governance
Prepare clear, concise operational reports for EXCO and senior management
Monitor compliance with internal policies, procedures, and governance standards
Support internal and external audits, as well as regulatory inspections
Ensure all operational documentation, records, and reports are accurate and up to date

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain/Logistics Management, or a relevant qualification
5–10 years General Management experience in an industrial or mining-related environment
Proven experience across core operational disciplines listed above
Solid project management experience within complex, multi-stakeholder operations
