CORE FOCUS

This role centres on sourcing and purchasing electronic components for PCB manufacturing, keeping production running smoothly and cost-effectively. Expect a mix of negotiation, technical component checks, stock management, and constant collaboration with planning and production teams.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Purchasing & Procurement

Source and purchase electronic components against BOM requirements and production schedules

Obtain, compare, and evaluate quotations from approved suppliers

Negotiate pricing, lead times, and delivery terms to balance cost, risk, and availability

Raise accurate purchase orders within required timelines

Ensure all purchases comply with quality standards and approved manufacturers

Track open orders, following through until delivery is completed

Inventory & Production Support

Maintain optimal stock levels to support production plans

Prevent shortages, excess stock, and obsolete inventory through smart planning

Work closely with planning and production on material availability and constraints

Flag long lead-time and high-risk items early and propose solutions

Expedite urgent components and resolve material bottlenecks

Technical Component Management

Verify electronic component specs, package types, and manufacturer part numbers

Confirm alternates and substitutes are technically correct and properly approved

Interpret BOM structures and understand PCB assembly and component compatibility

Assist in identifying counterfeit or non-compliant components

Supplier Management

Build solid relationships with local and international suppliers

Monitor supplier performance on pricing, quality, and delivery reliability

Address discrepancies, shortages, and quality issues quickly and professionally

Keep suppliers updated on demand, lead times, and order priorities

Quality, Compliance & Admin

Maintain full traceability and accurate purchasing records

Support ISO 9001 processes and internal purchasing procedures

Participate in corrective actions related to purchasing deviations

Ensure RoHS, REACH, and customer-specific requirements are adhered to

Update ERP/MRP systems accurately and keep supplier databases clean and current

Compile reports on shortages, risks, and purchasing performance

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

3+ years’ experience purchasing electronic components in an electronics manufacturing / PCB assembly environment

Strong understanding of:

Electronic components

PCB assembly processes

BOM structures

Manufacturer part numbers

SMD and through-hole components

Hands-on experience with ERP/MRP systems

Strong Microsoft Excel skills

Ability to read and interpret BOMs and technical documentation

Confident communication and negotiation skills

High attention to detail and accuracy

Able to work under pressure and juggle multiple priorities

ADVANTAGEOUS

IPC or electronics manufacturing knowledge

Experience with international sourcing and imports

Knowledge of component lifecycle management and allocation markets

Understanding of ISO 9001 processes
