Job Title: Fitter and Turner
Department: Engineering / Manufacturing / Maintenance
Job Purpose
The Fitter and Turner is responsible for carrying out fitting, turning, assembly, and basic machining work to support production and maintenance requirements. The role is suited to a candidate who has completed their trade training and has hands-on workshop experience but has not yet completed formal trade certification.
Key Responsibilities

Perform fitting, turning, and assembly of mechanical components

Operate workshop machinery including lathes, milling machines, drills, and grinders
-
Read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions
-
Measure, mark, and machine components to required tolerances
-
Assist with maintenance, repairs, and breakdown support
-
Conduct basic inspections to ensure quality and accuracy of work
-
Maintain tools, machinery, and a clean, safe work environment
-
Adhere strictly to health, safety, and quality standards
Minimum Requirements

Completed Fitter and Turner trade training (theoretical and practical)

Hands-on workshop experience in machining and fitting

Ability to work from engineering drawings and specifications

Willingness to continue skills development and pursue trade testing
