Job Title: Lead Technician – DDL Equipment
Location: Stikland, Cape Town (Technicians are dispatched from Stikland to various customer sites)
Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Technician to join our team in the Cape Town region. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, servicing, maintenance, and breakdown support of dock levelers, industrial doors, and general docking equipment at customer sites. This role requires strong technical ability, excellent problem solving skills, and the confidence to represent our company professionally on-site.
Key Responsibilities
• Install, service, and maintain dock levelers, dock doors, high-speed doors, and related docking equipment at customer facilities. • Diagnose and repair hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical faults during breakdown call-outs.
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and ensure equipment operates according to safety and performance standards.
• Lead site activities and coordinate with support teams where required.
• Maintain accurate service records, job cards, and reporting documentation.
• Communicate effectively with customers regarding work performed, equipment condition, and any additional recommendations.
• Ensure all work is performed safely and in accordance with company and site-specific health & safety procedures.
Minimum Requirements
• Grade 12 (Matric).
• Valid driver’s license.
• Minimum 4 years’ experience in a technical service environment, preferably involving mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic systems.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical breakdowns.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and take lead on-site.
• Physically fit and able to work in industrial environments and heights where required.
Additional Attributes (Advantageous)
• Experience working with industrial or material-handling equipment.
• Basic understanding of control panels or industrial electronics.
• Ability to train junior technicians or apprentices.
• A strong sense of responsibility, initiative, and quality workmanship.
