Senior Business Analyst

Location: Cape Town

 

 **Asset Management / Front Office experience- Non-negotiable**

 Please note: Candidates without direct project delivery experience within Asset Management will not be considered.

 

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst with strong domain expertise across Asset Management operations, Front Office, Transfer Agency, and Fund Administration environments.

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for translating complex regulatory, operational, and technology-driven requirements into structured business artefacts that support transformation, platform enhancements, and operating model improvements.

 

This role requires a Business Analyst who understands the investment value chain, fund lifecycle, and regulated operating environments, and can confidently engage senior stakeholders across business and technology functions.

 

This role is ideal for a Business Analyst who thrives in a fast-paced environment, has a keen eye for process improvement, and can work effectively within cross-functional teams to drive business success.

 

Required Industry Experience (Mandatory)

Applicants must have experience delivering BA artefacts within one or more of the following:

 

Transfer Agency & Investor Services

• Client onboarding & AML processes
• TA platform migrations or enhancements
• Investor servicing workflows
• Distribution and digital investor platforms
• Operating model improvements within TA environments

 

Fund Administration & Operations

• NAV production and oversight processes
• Fund launches and restructures
• Trade lifecycle management
• Custodian and third-party administrator interactions
• Reconciliations, pricing, corporate actions

 

Front Office & Investment Management

• Portfolio management workflows
• Order management processes
• Performance & risk reporting
• Regulatory reporting impacting investment teams

Responsibilities

 

Requirements Elicitation & Analysis

• Engage with Front Office, Fund Operations, Risk, Compliance, and Technology stakeholders to elicit, analyse, and document business requirements.
• Produce high-quality artefacts including:
  • Business Requirement Documents (BRDs)
  • Functional Specifications
  • Process Maps
  • Gap Analysis
  • Impact Assessments
  • Feasibility Studies
• Ensure full traceability between regulatory requirements, business needs, and system solutions.

Process & Operating Model Improvement

• Identify opportunities for process optimisation and operational efficiency.
• Support Target Operating Model (TOM) design and implementation initiatives.
• Facilitate workshops to define future-state processes across Front, Middle, and Back Office.

Solution Design & Testing

• Participate in solution design discussions with technology teams and vendors.
• Define acceptance criteria, test scenarios, and support UAT execution.
• Ensure delivered solutions meet regulatory and operational requirements.

Stakeholder & Governance Management

• Facilitate workshops with senior stakeholders including Heads of Operations, Portfolio Managers, Compliance, and Technology leads.
• Clearly articulate complex regulatory and operational requirements.
• Escalate risks and issues in a timely and structured manner.
• Self-manage deliverables in fast-paced, regulated environments.

 

 Key Skills & Competencies

• Minimum 5+ years’ experience as a Business Analyst within Asset / Investment Management.
• Strong understanding of:
  • Trade lifecycle
  • Fund structures and NAV processes
  • Transfer Agency workflows
  • Regulatory frameworks impacting asset managers
• Experience working on platform implementations or enhancements within Asset Management.
• Ability to engage confidently with senior business stakeholders.
• Strong analytical thinking and structured documentation capability.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple BA streams simultaneously.

 

Technical & Tooling Experience

• Experience working within Agile/Scrum environments.
• Proficiency in JIRA, Confluence, and process mapping tools (e.g. Visio).
• Exposure to Asset Management platforms (e.g. SimCorp, Charles River, InvestOne, TCS BaNCS, SS&C, Multifonds) is highly advantageous.
• SQL or data analysis experience is advantageous.

 

 Minimum Qualifications

• Relevant Tertiary Qualification or Certificate/Diploma in Business Analysis from industry recognized training institution is advantageous (e.g. FTI; IIBA or SAFe)
