Technical Account Manager – IT Solutions – Cape Town

This Technical Account Manager role blends solution-led sales, strategic IT engagement, and trusted advisory work with top-tier enterprise and large mid-market customers.
CORE FOCUS
This role centres on driving revenue and gross profit growth by positioning and selling high-value IT solutions into sophisticated enterprise environments. You’ll engage directly with CIOs, CTOs, IT Directors and senior IT leaders, turning complex business and technology requirements into clear, value-driven solution propositions that support their transformation agendas.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Drive solution-led IT sales to enterprise and large mid-market customers, meeting and exceeding assigned revenue and gross profit targets
- Engage with CIOs, IT Executives, Architects, and Senior IT Managers at both strategic and operational levels
- Develop a deep understanding of customer IT environments, architectures, roadmaps, and business pain points
- Position integrated IT solutions as strategic enablers for digital transformation, resilience, security, performance, and cost optimisation
- Build and maintain strong relationships across customer IT organisations, from executive leadership through to technical teams
- Identify and qualify new sales opportunities through structured account planning and proactive prospecting
- Collaborate closely with pre-sales, solution architects, product and service delivery teams to design and present tailored IT solutions
- Lead the end-to-end solution sales cycle: discovery, solution definition, proposal development, commercial negotiation, and deal closure
- Act as the primary commercial interface for customers, ensuring a smooth handover from sales into delivery
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date reporting of opportunities, forecasts, and customer interactions in the CRM system
- Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, vendor offerings, and competitor positioning to guide customers with informed insight
PERFORMANCE & PIPELINE MANAGEMENT
- Build and sustain a high-quality IT solutions pipeline across assigned accounts
- Accurately forecast sales performance and progress opportunities through to purchase order
- Translate customer IT requirements into well-aligned solution propositions
- Ensure disciplined, daily CRM usage and reporting on customer activity and opportunity status
PROFILE & EXPERIENCE
- Matric is required
- Degree in Information Technology, Business, Marketing, or a related field; postgraduate qualification advantageous
- 8+ years’ experience in solution-led IT sales within enterprise environments
- Demonstrated success selling to CIOs, IT Directors, and senior IT leadership
- Deep understanding of the enterprise IT landscape: infrastructure, cloud, networking, security, data, and managed services
- Proven track record in selling solution-based IT offerings rather than transactional products
- Strong communication and presentation skills for executive-level engagements
- Solid negotiation skills with the ability to structure commercially sound agreements
- Analytical capability to assess customer environments, competitive positioning, and pricing strategies
- Strong understanding of sales performance metrics and pipeline management
- Advanced experience using CRM systems and MS Office
