Broker Consultant – Life Insurance
Legal cover is growing fast, and brokers need a sharp, solutions-driven partner in their corner. This role puts you right in the middle of the action – working with external brokers and partner networks to grow legal insurance books, sharpen performance, and keep service levels at a premium. Think relationship-builder, performance coach, and technical problem-solver, all rolled into one.
CORE FOCUS KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Broker Relationship Management
Build and maintain solid, long-term relationships with brokers and distribution partners
Run regular engagement sessions – telephonic, virtual, and face-to-face where needed
Act as the go-to contact for broker queries, escalations, and complaints on legal insurance
Sales & Growth Enablement
Spot opportunities to onboard new brokers and expand existing broker books
Activate and train brokers, boosting product knowledge and sales capability
Drive broker performance against key legal insurance objectives such as net growth, quality of business, and conversion rates
Broker Support & Case Processing
Manage the end-to-end process for legal insurance applications – from capturing to finalisation
Assist with system, policy, process, and underwriting queries
Keep turnaround times tight and information accurate to maintain strong service standards
Performance Monitoring & Quality
Track broker performance across metrics like panel penetration, conversion, lapse ratios, NTU ratios, and compliance
Maintain lapse and NTU ratios within required thresholds (e.g. ≤ 40%)
Conduct root-cause analysis on poor performance and agree practical corrective actions with brokers
Reporting & Data Insights
Collate, analyse, and interpret broker and sales data to highlight trends and gaps
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports
Use panel and persistency metrics to guide focus, coaching, and engagement plans
Operational Planning & Compliance
Plan and manage monthly schedules to maximise broker visits, training, and follow-ups
Coordinate with internal support teams to resolve high-priority broker matters quickly
Ensure all activity aligns with FAIS, TCF, POPIA and internal governance, staying current on regulatory developments
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Grade 12 / Matric
FAIS accreditation (e.g. RE5 or relevant qualification)
3–4 years’ experience in sales, distribution, or broker consulting within short-term or legal insurance
Confident user of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
ADVANTAGEOUS EXPERIENCE
Direct exposure to Life insurance sales or Life service products
Background in banking, financial, insurance, or business services environments
Project management exposure
Experience working with broker admin houses or external partner networks
