Financial Manager

As a Financial Manager, you will be an integral part of our team, working closely with experienced professionals across the intricacies of financial management, management accounting, operational finance, and the different systems involved in the process. You’ll work with ambitious product-based businesses dealing with inventory, cost of goods, and operational complexity. This is the kind of finance work that demands both technical skill and commercial awareness.

This position offers a real opportunity to deepen your skill set and gain valuable experience servicing dynamic clients operating in diverse industries around the world.

This is not a conventional accounting role, and we are not looking for a conventional accountant. We are looking for someone who is execution-heavy, detail-driven, process-minded, and comfortable using modern tools (including AI) to work faster, smarter, and with higher leverage. You will be expected to build repeatable workflows, continuously improve how financial work is produced and managed, and use AI to accelerate tasks like data processing, reporting, and analysis without lowering quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Finance Expertise: Gain a deep understanding of operational finance principles, systems, and processes, from data entry to financial reporting.
  • Client Relationship Management: Collaborate with our seasoned professionals to provide financial consulting services to our diverse client base, assisting them in achieving their financial objectives.
  • Financial Analysis: Analyze financial data to provide insights that support strategic decision-making for our clients.
  • Data Management: Be responsible for accurate and timely recording of financial transactions, maintaining financial databases, and ensuring data integrity.
  • Advanced Financial Reporting & Dashboards: Craft financial dashboards, financial statements, performance reports, and variance analysis.
  • Project Coordination & Cross-Functional Leadership: Coordinate and run the internal administration of the team. Track workstreams, deadlines, and deliverables. Ensure the right hand-offs happen between people and make sure nothing falls through the cracks.
  • AI-First Workflows & Systems: Use AI tools to accelerate drafting, data processing, reconciliation, and reporting. Build repeatable workflows that scale output without lowering quality. Continuously improve how financial work is produced, reviewed, and delivered.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in financial processes and reporting systems, with a bias toward automation, modern tooling, and smarter ways of working.
  • Continuous Professional Development: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, new systems, AI developments, accounting regulations, and best practices to maintain a high level of expertise.
  • Collaborative Environment: Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including C-Suite executives, start-up founders, entrepreneurs, auditors, and legal advisors, to provide holistic financial solutions.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Required Industry Experience: Hands-on experience with e-commerce, distribution, or any product/inventory-driven business. Stock, cost of goods sold (COGS), fulfillment, and multi-channel complexity are part of the daily workflow, and we need someone who already understands the rhythm of it or has been close enough to ramp up fast.
  • Education: A degree in Accounting, Management Accounting, or Finance.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 – 8 years of applied financial management experience, depending on professional qualification status.
  • Core Knowledge: Strong foundational knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and operational finance.
  • Certifications: CA or CIMA accredited or working toward it is a strong plus.

Key Requirements & Technical Skills

  • Financial Software Proficiency: Highly proficient in accounting software (eg Xero, Pastel, etc) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Leadership & Organization: Strong organizational skills –  keeping a team’s workstreams moving, managing your own workload tightly, and coordinating the team’s workloads, delivery, and capacity.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail.
  • Project Management: Proven ability to manage projects from initiation to completion.
  • Technical Aptitude: Very comfortable in computer-first environments, with a natural interest in technology, tools, and systems.
  • AI & Automation: Strong with modern tools and AI, and excited about using them to work faster and with more leverage. Exposure to coding, automation, or technical problem-solving is a strong plus.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Adaptability: A proactive attitude, eagerness to learn, and the ability to work effectively within a team or independently in a dynamic environment.
  • E-commerce & Inventory Systems (Advantageous): Hands-on experience with Cin7 Core, Shopify, Amazon Seller Central, and WooCommerce.
