Credit Controller – Debtors

This role centres on keeping debtor accounts healthy and organised, making sure credit applications are managed smoothly and payments are collected on time within a busy events-focused environment.

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • You’ll play a key part in the finance function, looking after debtor accounts and keeping credit records in good order so the wider team can focus on delivering events.
  • Your day-to-day work is likely to include:
  • Managing debtor accounts and keeping accurate records of amounts owed
  • Processing and monitoring credit applications from new and existing customers
  • Following up on outstanding payments and overdue accounts in a professional, friendly manner
  • Reconciling customer accounts and resolving discrepancies promptly
  • Updating debtor ledgers and maintaining clear documentation
  • Liaising with internal teams to clarify billing, credit terms and payment queries
  • Supporting reporting on aged debt and highlighting any risk areas
  • Helping to refine credit control processes as the business and events portfolio grow

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • Solid experience working in a credit control or debtors role
  • Confident handling credit applications and assessing basic credit risk
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy with figures and documentation
  • Comfortable working with accounting systems and Excel or similar tools
  • Clear, friendly communication skills for dealing with clients and colleagues
  • A proactive approach to chasing debt and resolving queries
  • Good organisational skills to manage multiple accounts and deadlines

NICE TO HAVE

  • Experience in the events, hospitality, or travel sector
  • Familiarity with managing debtor accounts for B2B clients
  • Understanding of different payment terms and international clients
  • Exposure to fast-paced, deadline-driven environments
