About the company

Monitor Administrators is a South African Insurance Underwriting Manager specialising in Short Term Commercial and Domestic Insurance Policy Management for our Broker base throughout the country. We specialise in streamlining services between Brokers and insurers. Founded in 2003, the Company emphasizes speed, accuracy, and efficiency in claims handling, underwriting, and administrative support. With extensive experience in insurance administration, Monitor Administrators is dedicated to delivering game-changing, tailored solutions for the industry’s evolving needs.

 

We operate as a Short-Term Insurance Underwriting Manager offering a range of Domestic and Commercial Short Terms Insurance Policies underwritten by two leading South African Insurers. Our Commercial Policies are largely Multimark based whilst Our Domestic Policy is unique to Monitor.

 

Monitor’s Head Office, and administrative hub, is based in Durban and Durban has traditionally been our largest market.

 

 

Purpose of the job

·         We are looking for a Short Term Insurance Broker Consultant located in Kloof and employed with the express mandate of helping us increase our Market Share in Durban and surrounding areas. This is to be achieved by way of signing on new Brokers and managing these new Broker Portfolios. 

·         We are looking for skilled, Short Term Broker Consultants, who can work independently and in a team.

·         This role is ideal for an experienced insurance professional familiar with Short Term Insurance Policies. In addition to Policy knowledge, we are looking for someone who has experience in dealing with Brokers from an Insurer’s perspective and is comfortable building and maintaining relationships with new Brokers. Our model is one based on personal, individualised service, offered to each of our Brokers and we need someone who can offer a superb level of individualised service to each Broker.

 

Qualifications and Experience – not negotiable

·         Matric/Grade 12

·         5+ years of experience as a Broker Consultant for a short-term Insurer or Underwriting Manager, focusing on Executive Domestic policies.

·         RE5 and relevant credits

·         Valid drivers license and own reliable vehicle

Knowledge, Skills and Behavioural attributes/ Requirement:

·         Proficient in industry-standard insurance policies.

·         Strong independent work ethic with accountability to meet KPI targets for new business and Broker onboarding.

·         Be able to work efficiently and accurately to deadlines.

·         Willing to work unsociable hours if required ie put in extra time if required to complete tasks and/or attend networking/marketing events after business hours.

·         Good command in English with excellent communication skills

·         Computer literate

 

What key performance areas require

·         Sign on and onboard new Brokers

·         Liaise with Brokers

·         Manage Broker portfolios

·         Provide all quotes for new business using Monitor Quoting Templates

·         Identify and secure new Brokers and business opportunities (this may include cold calling of new Brokers as well as following up on new leads)

·         Conduct policy risk analysis

·         Assist Monitor in achieving its growth objectives in a sustainable way

·         Monitor Broker and Policy Loss Ratios on a continual basis.
