Job Details

OIM Consulting is a 40-year-old management consultancy specialising in operational excellence, supervisory development, safety culture and organisational development across mining, heavy industry and power generation. OIM delivers value through three integrated pillars: consulting (structured operational improvement and supervisory development), technologies, and learning methodology.

This Consultant is OIM’s dedicated facilitation and coaching specialist on client engagements, delivering two complementary strands of capability-building — frontline supervisory leadership (structured routines and on-the-floor Coaching to Performance) and leadership coaching culture (top-down coaching capability from executive to supervisor). Deployment to one strand, or both, depends on the scope of the engagement.

The role is structured for experienced facilitators and coaches who can hold a room of adult learners with confidence, coach a leader on the floor or in the boardroom with equal credibility, and carry the accreditation of a client’s own internal facilitators through to a defendable sign-off.

The contract will be on location in Africa and involve frequent travel and extended on-site stays with up to 3-1 rotation

Role purpose:

To execute OIM’s supervisory development and leadership-coaching programmes on client sites under the direction of the Project Manager; to deliver structured classroom and on-the-floor coaching to frontline supervisors and, where scoped, to management and executive leaders; to accredit client-side internal facilitators through Train-the-Trainer; and to maintain disciplined RAEDA™ data capture so coaching impact is measurable and defensible.

Key Accountability Areas:

FRONTLINE SUPERVISORY CAPABILITY DELIVERY

Where scoped to frontline capability, the Consultant plans and delivers multi-day cohorts of 12-15 delegates, applying OIM’s Supervisory Development Programme model of structured classroom input and on-the-floor Coaching to Performance (C2P™). Every cohort is delivered to OIM’s Client Engagement Model (CEM) and SDP 7+™ standard, underpinned by OIM’s ISO 9001:2015 QMS.

LEADERSHIP COACHING DELIVERY

Where scoped to leadership coaching, the Consultant delivers coaching-skills cohorts across the client’s leadership line — executive to supervisor — sequenced so senior leaders are coached before they are asked to coach others. This includes embedding GROW-based structured coaching forms and a visible, coached field-visit standard so coaching becomes a leadership habit rather than a one-off course.

COACHING TO PERFORMANCE (C2P™) & ON-THE-JOB COACHING

The Consultant carries direct responsibility for the coaching of frontline supervisors and operational coachees on the project, applying OIM’s C2P™ philosophy — behavioural coaching linked to measurable operational KPIs. RAEDA™ data discipline is a delivery accountability, not an administrative task: baseline ratings, observations, development priorities and corrective actions are captured accurately and on time, and any coaching plateau or regression is flagged to the Senior Consultant or Project Manager rather than allowed to drift.

TRAIN-THE-TRAINER ACCREDITATION

The Consultant delivers OIM’s Train-the-Trainer toolkits to nominated client-side internal facilitators — classroom content mastery, assessed in-field practice delivery, and facilitator sign-off — so delivery capability transfers to the client’s own team on a defined accreditation track.

CULTURE & CHANGE REINFORCEMENT

The Consultant reinforces the client’s leadership narrative and values framework in every session, so the desired culture is demonstrated in systems, symbols and behavioural norms rather than declared once and forgotten. Sessions are designed to carry visible executive sponsorship through to the frontline.

STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT ACROSS A DIVERSE WORKFORCE

The Consultant delivers to one consistent standard across a client’s full workforce, including contractor and business-partner personnel where applicable, and represents OIM credibly with frontline supervisors, line managers and, where in scope, senior client stakeholders. Trust is built through consistency, follow-through and the quality of coaching delivered.

GOVERNANCE, COMPLIANCE & REPORTING

The Consultant operates within OIM’s full governance and compliance framework — the OIM Code of Conduct, POPIA, OIM’s Information Security Policy and International Data Protection Extension, and applicable occupational health and safety requirements — and feeds cohort, assessment and accreditation data into the project’s reporting cadence.
