Financial Accountant

This role focuses on keeping the numbers accurate, the controls tight and the business confident in its financial information. It sits at the heart of a manufacturing operation, where disciplined reporting and strong processes keep production running smoothly and sustainably.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Day to day, the work blends hands-on accounting, control, and support to colleagues across the business. You will be the person who brings structure to the detail and makes sure every number has a clear story behind it.

Key responsibilities include

Preparing monthly balance sheet reconciliations and clearing reconciling items so the financial records stay clean and reliable

Preparing accounts up to trial balance and producing monthly income statements that support informed business decisions

Preparing weekly cash flow forecasts to give the business visibility and support effective financial planning

Managing month-end journals and close activities, and maintaining monthly journal and internal control files

Performing general ledger reconciliations and ensuring all supporting documentation is complete, accurate and easy to follow

Reviewing and strengthening internal controls to support sound financial governance

Preparing VAT and other statutory returns in line with legislative requirements

Supporting the budgeting and forecasting process with accurate financial information and clear insights

Coordinating the accounts payable process so suppliers are paid accurately and on time

Planning work effectively, managing project milestones and consistently delivering to agreed deadlines

Supporting and developing others by monitoring performance, sharing knowledge and providing coaching where needed

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

This role suits someone who is comfortable working in the detail, but still keeps the bigger commercial picture in mind. Ownership, accuracy and a strong sense of responsibility for controls are key.

Essential requirements

Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting

Around 3–5 years’ accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment

Professional Accountant (SAIPA) registration or completed articles

Experience working on Syspro

Knowledge of Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental standards

Solid experience with month-end processes, balance sheet reconciliations and statutory returns

Confidence working with different stakeholders and supporting them with clear financial information

NICE TO HAVE

These will help you settle in faster, but are not strict deal-breakers:

Experience in a regulated manufacturing or nutraceutical/pharmaceutical-type environment

Exposure to continuous improvement projects in finance or operations

WHAT IT’S LIKE TO WORK HERE

This is a manufacturing environment where quality, compliance and consistency matter every day. The finance team is trusted to think for themselves, ask questions and challenge how things are done when it improves the process.

You can expect

A culture where people take ownership rather than waiting to be told what to do

Colleagues who share knowledge freely and solve challenges together

A strong focus on continuous improvement, both in processes and in how people work

A business that values structure, discipline and clear financial insight as a foundation for better products and better living

Every control strengthened, every process improved and every insight shared feeds directly into a stronger operation and a more resilient business.
