Position Overview:

The IT Technician/Installer is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of

computer systems, networks, CCTV, Access Control and telecommunication systems and will

form part of a Road Team. This role involves setting up hardware and software,

troubleshooting issues, and ensuring that all systems operate efficiently. The candidate will

work closely with other IT professionals and clients to provide high-quality technical support

and service.

 

The candidate plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation and functionality of

computer and telecommunication systems. This position requires technical expertise,

problem-solving skills, and a customer-oriented approach. The ideal candidate will be

proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks effectively.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Installation:

  • Install and configure computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers, and scanners.
  • Set up and install telecommunication equipment, including PBX systems, VoIP phones, and cabling infrastructure.
  • Installation of Fibre and Wireless equipment to end users and businesses.
  • Installation and Setup of CCTV equipment
  • Installation and Setup of Access control equipment
  • Ensure that installations meet technical and functional specifications.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

  • Perform routine maintenance on hardware and software.
  • Troubleshoot system and network problems, diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults.
  • Repair and replace equipment as necessary.

Technical Support:

  • Provide technical support to clients and internal users, addressing hardware and software issues.
  • Responding to support requests and resolving technical problems in a timely manner.
  • Assist users in understanding and operating installed systems.

Network Support:

  • Assist in the setup and maintenance of local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and other networking infrastructure.
  • Monitor network performance and optimize and document and report to Office as necessary.
  • Ensure network security and connectivity.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Document all installation and maintenance activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of hardware and software inventory.
  • Prepare and submit reports on completed work and technical issues.

Client Interaction:

  • Communicate effectively with clients to understand their technical needs and provide solutions accordingly.
  • Provide training and support to clients on the use of installed systems.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through timely and efficient service.
  • Liaising with customers regarding call-out times and maintaining an open channel of communication with both the customer and Office should these need changing.

Qualifications:

  • Basic diploma in IT or equivalent (Beneficial)• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent are desirable.
  • Drivers License is a must.

 

Skills/Experience:

  • 3-5 years experience in a similar role
  • Strong knowledge of computer hardware, software, and operating systems.
  • Proficiency in installing and configuring network and telecommunication systems.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
  • Familiarity with various networking technologies and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Configuring and setup of Mikrotik Routers
  • Configuring and Setup on Ubiquity technologies
  • Experience in MS Windows Server setup and maintenance including managing and maintaining domains with Active Directory.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Working Hours:

  • Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5:30pm
  • Occasionally may be needed over a weekend for critical issues that may arise
