Role Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Network Engineer to join our Managed IT Services team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, securing, and supporting advanced network infrastructures across multiple customer environments. This role requires deep technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage both internal core infrastructure and client networks with a focus on uptime, scalability, and customer satisfaction.

As a senior member of the technical team, you will also act as an escalation point for complex issues, mentor junior engineers, and work closely with account managers to ensure clients receive best-in-class IT services.

 

Key Responsibilities

1.     Network Design & Implementation

  • Architect, configure, and deploy secure, scalable network solutions for multiple clients (LAN, WAN, VPN, wireless, MPLS, SD-WAN).
  • Design multi-tenant environments that support managed firewalls, VLANs, and customer segmentation.
  • Plan and lead migration projects (cloud connectivity, datacenter transitions, office relocations).

 

2.     Network Operations & Support

  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and escalation support for networking issues across customer environments.
  • Manage and optimize routing, switching, and firewall infrastructures.
  • Maintain SD-WAN/ BGP/OSPF for clients requiring redundant ISP connections.
  • Ensure proactive monitoring, performance tuning, and capacity planning.

 

3.     Security & Compliance

  • Implement and maintain firewall, IDS/IPS, and VPN solutions for multiple customer environments.
  • Ensure compliance with data security best practices, including segmentation and least-privilege access.
  • Respond to and mitigate network security incidents.

 

4.     Customer Engagement

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients on networking solutions, upgrades, and best practices.
  • Participate in pre-sales discussions, assisting with network solution design and scoping.
  • Deliver clear communication to non-technical clients and business stakeholders.

 

5.     Leadership & Knowledge Sharing

  • Act as an escalation point for engineers and technicians.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers.
  • Maintain documentation, playbooks, and technical standards across customer deployments.

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree/Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 7+ years of networking experience, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead role within an MSP or IT services environment.
  • Strong expertise in:
  • Routing protocols (BGP, OSPF).
  • Switching (Cisco Catalyst/Nexus, HP/Aruba, MikroTik, etc.).
  • Firewalls (Cisco ASA/FTD, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Sophos, MikroTik).
  • VPN technologies (site-to-site, client, SSL).
  • VLANs, QoS, SD-WAN, and wireless networking.
  • Familiarity with multi-tenant environments and MSP monitoring tools (PRTG, ATERA, IT Glue or similar).
  • Exposure to cloud networking (Azure, AWS, Microsoft 365 security & hybrid networking) preferred.
  • Professional certifications (CCNP/CCIE, Fortinet NSE, Palo Alto PCNSE, MikroTik MTCINE) are highly desirable.
