POSITION       :           Academic Registrar

LOCATION     :           Remote / Work from home

DATE              :           December 2025

 

A leading private Education Group is seeking an experienced Registrar; this position is Remote based/ Work from Home. Responsibilities

 

Academic and Student Administration

  • Oversee the student life cycle, including student admissions, registrations, assessments, graduations, and records management.
  • Manage the institutional academic calendar, including curriculum, assessment schedules, study materials, and venue planning.
  • Ensure secure handling of assessments and results
  • Lead the configuration and regulatory alignment of student administration
  • Key stakeholder in decisions around student support
  • Provide training on academic and student administration for all

Records and Systems Management

  • Act as custodian of all student records, ensuring compliance with legislation and institutional
  • Maintain and enhance the student information management
  • Conduct UAT testing and support system integration for academic
  • Design and map business processes for student administration and academic

Governance and Compliance

  • Provide strategic advice to executive management on academic governance
  • Chair and/or attend relevant committee
  • Ensure compliance with national legal and policy prescripts (DHET, CHE, SAQA, QCTO).

Student Discipline and Institutional Conduct

  • Oversee the implementation and enforcement of institutional rules, codes of conduct, and disciplinary procedures.
  • Ensure fair, transparent, and consistent handling of student disciplinary matters in accordance with institutional policies and national legal frameworks.
  • Collaborate with academic and administrative departments to promote a culture of accountability, respect, and ethical behavior.
  • Provide guidance and training to staff on conduct-related protocols and support the development of a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment.
  • Maintain accurate records of disciplinary proceedings and ensure compliance with privacy and legal

Operational Leadership

  • Oversee and/or contract and manage third-party suppliers (couriers, printers, publishers, venues).
  • Oversee logistics for student material distribution and examination
  • Lead change management initiatives and support continuous
  • Align workflows with institutional academic policies and student

Strategic Planning and Institutional Support

  • Contribute to strategic planning and policy
  • Support the development of institutional rules and systems for records
  • Provide input into student communications and

  • Report to and support reporting requirements to the Holdings company and relevant regulatory

Crisis and Incident Management

  • Lead the investigation and resolution of academic integrity breaches, examination irregularities, and certification disputes in collaboration with relevant academic and governance bodies.
  • Ensure the integrity and security of student records during data breaches, system failures, or unauthorised access Coordinate with IT and compliance teams to mitigate risks and restore services.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for reporting academic incidents to external regulatory bodies (e.g., DHET, CHE, SAQA), ensuring timely and accurate documentation.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of academic continuity plans during institutional crises (e.g., natural disasters, pandemics, cyberattacks), including alternative assessment protocols and remote certification processes.
  • Act as a central point of contact for internal stakeholders during academic disruptions, ensuring consistent communication and coordinated response across departments.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • LLB or other relevant law degree (postgraduate preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as Registrar or Senior Manager in a higher education
  • Proven experience in managing student information systems and academic
  • Track record in business process design and institutional policy
  • Experience with system integration across the student
  • Formal qualification or short learning programme in systems or records management (recommended).
