The Opportunity

We are looking for a Social Development Facilitator to join our dynamic team at the Kay Mason Foundation. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about youth development, transforming lives and thrives in a creative, dynamic, collaborative, and fast paced environment. You will be hands on, working with our scholars and parents as part of the social development team, to ensure that our scholars achieve their full potential.  You will also work closely with members from other departments within the organisation, to ensure consistent and impactful communication with our donors, partners, and communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and manage the academic support program for all senior scholars
  • Manage the planning and finances for the academic support program
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the academic support program
  • Develop, implement and manage the psycho-social development and support for the scholars
  • Manage the planning and finances for the psycho-social development and support interventions for scholars
  • Implement reviews and assessments with the scholars to evaluate their progress and functioning academically and psycho-socially
  • Develop and maintain and IDP for every scholar
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the psycho-social development intervention programs
  • Manage scholar and program administration

 

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Relevant degree in Social Work, or related fields such as psychology or teaching.
  • 5+ years’ experience as a practicing social worker.
  • Strong background in youth development and education would be ideal.
  • Demonstrated ability to:
    • develop, implement and coordinate development programs
    • implement individual-, group-, and community-based interventions
    • interact, connect, and communicate very effectively with scholars, parents, donors, and team members
    • manage administrative responsibilities
    • develop, implement and manage intricate projects, such as an academic tutoring program for youth
    • do research to develop quality applicable programs for youth, as well as to be solution focussed
    • facilitate workshops or events
  • Excellent communication and interaction skills are essential.
  • Excellent planning and project management skills are essential.
  • Ability to manage multiple programs with attention to detail and deadlines. Organised and able to think ahead.  
  • Ability to work independently as well as a positive member of the team.
  • Passionate about youth development in South Africa, social impact, and building meaningful connections.
  • Focussed on excellence and quality in everything you do.
  • Ability to positively deal with change and / or crisis situations.
