Lead Azure Networking for Cape Town/Stellenbosch’s Top Tech Teams

We’re looking for a Senior Azure Network‑focused Engineer to own, design and evolve our cloud network estate across Cape Town and Stellenbosch (50% Networking 50% Azure). You’ll be the go‑to Azure & Networking expert, shaping how traffic flows, how systems connect, and how we scale securely across regions and environments.

Why This Role Is Built for a Network Specialist

  • Be the Azure networking authority: Your voice drives network architecture, connectivity patterns and hybrid design.

  • Solve complex network challenges: Multi‑region designs, hybrid connectivity, segmentation, performance tuning and secure access.

  • Work at the edge of cloud networking: ExpressRoute, VPN, VNets, VNet peering, Private Link, NSGs, Azure Firewall, Bastion and more.

  • Collaborate with cloud architects, security and solution partners to design resilient, low‑latency, high‑throughput network topologies.

What You’ll Own (Networking First)

  • Design and optimise secure, highly available Azure network architectures (VNets, peering, Private Link, VPN, ExpressRoute, Azure Firewall, NSGs, Application Gateways, Bastion).

  • Lead hybrid connectivity: Site‑to‑site VPNs, ExpressRoute circuits, on‑prem to cloud routing, name resolution and identity‑aware access patterns.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex network performance and connectivity issues across IaaS, PaaS and SaaS workloads.

  • Automate network deployments as code using ARM/Bicep, PowerShell and Azure CLI; enforce standardised patterns and reusable blueprints.

  • Own network documentation, runbooks and reference architectures that become the standard for other teams.

  • Partner deeply with security, platform, and application teams to design end‑to‑end solutions that balance performance, resilience and compliance.

Why Network Engineers Love This Role

  • Your network designs are front and centre on every deployment-from landing zones and hub‑and‑spoke to zero‑trust‑aligned patterns.

  • You drive critical incident response for connectivity and latency issues and lead the technical conversation in war rooms.

  • You’ll influence everything from IP strategy and segmentation to regional topology, DR and multi‑cloud interconnects.

  • Fast‑paced, engineering‑led environment where new ideas (new patterns, tools, automations) are tested and adopted quickly.

Bonus Experience That Sets You Apart

  • Hands‑on experience with FortiGate, Cisco, Palo Alto, SD‑WAN or similar network/security appliances integrated with Azure.

  • Designing and operating landing zones, enterprise‑scale reference architectures, or regulated (financial/healthcare) cloud environments.

  • Proven experience with multi‑region deployments, global routing, and traffic management.

You’ll Thrive Here If You

  • Think in topologies and flows: you see how packets move, where they can fail, and how to make paths resilient.

  • Enjoy leading cross‑functional efforts but can also deep‑dive solo to root‑cause complex network issues.

  • Communicate clearly with both engineers and business stakeholders-translating network risks and options into simple decisions.

  • Want to design and run strategic networks, not just keep existing circuits alive.

Mandatory Requirements (No Exceptions)

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ‑104)

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Network Engineer Associate (AZ‑700)

  • 5+ years of hands‑on Azure administration and support, with significant responsibility for networking in enterprise or hybrid environments.

This is your chance to define how Azure networking is done in one of Africa’s most exciting tech hubs-and to become the name people call when “it’s a network problem.”
