Payroll & HR Administrator

Role Overview

We are looking for a reliable and experienced Payroll & HR Administrator to take full ownership of the payroll function and HR administration within the business.

This role requires a hands-on, detail-driven individual who can manage both weekly and monthly payroll cycles accurately and on time, while maintaining strong HR processes and compliance.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Matric (essential)

  • Relevant HR or Payroll qualification (advantageous)

  • Minimum 3–5 years proven payroll experience

  • Mandatory experience with both weekly and monthly payroll cycles

  • Experience managing HR administration and employee records

  • Stable work history with proven reliability


Core Responsibilities

Payroll (Primary Function)

  • Full ownership of weekly and monthly payroll processing from start to finish

  • Process timesheets, overtime, leave, deductions, and statutory requirements

  • Ensure payroll accuracy and meet strict deadlines consistently

  • Maintain and manage payroll systems (e.g. SAGE or similar)

  • Handle payroll queries and resolve discrepancies efficiently

  • Prepare and submit statutory returns (PAYE, UIF, etc.)

  • Assist with payroll audits and ensure full compliance


HR Management & Administration

  • Take full ownership of HR administration and employee records

  • Manage the employee lifecycle:

    • Contracts

    • Onboarding and offboarding

    • Employee file management

  • Oversee leave, attendance, and benefits administration

  • Ensure all HR documentation is accurate, up to date, and compliant

  • Maintain proper document control systems

  • Coordinate recruitment processes (job postings, interview scheduling, onboarding)

  • Ensure compliance with South African labour legislation (BCEA, EEA)

  • Act as the point of contact for HR-related queries

  • Maintain HR data and prepare reports when required


 


Systems & Skills

  • Experience with payroll systems (SAGE VIP experience advantageous)

  • Strong Microsoft Excel and Office skills
