Role Purpose To develop and implement tactical plans and strategic initiatives to drive the growth and expansion of the business by applying sound commercial acumen, market analysis, and relationship-building skills.
Minimum Requirements Post Graduate degree in business management, marketing, finance, economics, or related fields is often required. 6 – 8 years’ proven senior management experience in commercial and / or business development. Similar experience in the mining and logistics industry.

Duties:
• Contribute to the development and execution of the company’s overall strategic plan, particularly regarding business development and commercial objectives.
• Develop and implement business development and commercial strategies to drive business growth, exploring new markets, and identifying opportunities for expansion.
• Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of prospects to ensure a steady flow of opportunities.
• Conduct market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, client’s needs, and competitive landscapes to capitalize on opportunities.
• Analyse market data to develop effective strategies for entering new markets or expanding within existing markets.
• Collaborate with the marketing team to align business development and commercial strategies with overall marketing initiatives.
• Prepare compelling proposals, presentations, and pitches to showcase the company’s offerings and value proposition.
• Lead negotiations, structure deals, and close agreements with potential partners, clients, or investors.
• Negotiate contract terms and pricing agreements with clients, ensuring mutual benefit and alignment with company objectives.
• Work closely with legal and finance teams to finalize contracts and agreements.
• Conduct financial assessments and feasibility studies for new ventures, partnerships, or market entries to ensure profitability.
• Manage commercial budgets, forecasts, and financial performance metrics to ensure profitability and cost-effectiveness.
• Track and analyse the performance of business development initiatives against set metrics and goals, making necessary adjustments for improvement.
• Establish and nurture relationships with key clients, partners, stakeholders, and industry players to foster business growth, client retention and loyalty.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing their needs and concerns in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve client issues and enhance the overall client experience.
• Identify and pursue opportunities for strategic partnerships, joint ventures, or alliances that can enhance the company’s market position.
• Design and establish effective client management protocols to ensure sustainability and service excellence.
• Identify and mitigate commercial risks, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
• Assess risks associated with new business opportunities, partnerships, or market expansions, and developing risk mitigation strategies.
• Lead the marketing teams to develop effective marketing strategies that align with business development goals and enhance the company’s brand presence.
• Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and execute integrated marketing campaigns.
• Provide transformational leadership to the direct reports in line with the organisation’s performance management framework, including the setting of annual performance objectives, annual performance appraisal and regular 1:1 meeting regarding progress throughout the year.
• Oversee that direct reports provide coaching, mentoring and on-the-job training to subordinate staff.
• Facilitate collaboration and communication between different business units or subsidiaries to promote synergy, shared resources, and best practices.
