Business Development Officer / Consultant MSHEQ

This role combines genuine business development with specialist industry knowledge, giving you the chance to make a real impact across two major markets. You’ll be driving growth for MSHEQ services whilst building trusted client relationships that genuinely matter.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Hunt for new business opportunities across Johannesburg and Cape Town, identifying and canvassing areas with genuine potential

Conduct thorough research on prospective clients and set up introductory meetings with compelling MSHEQ marketing materials

Build and maintain strong client relationships through regular in-person visits and strategic customer engagement within budget

Manage the full sales cycle: from initial quotes through follow-up, invoicing, and ensuring timely client payments

Handle sales administration with precision – responding to all emails and quotes within 24 hours, updating CRM modules, and maintaining accurate documentation

Prepare detailed proposals for consulting and retainer quotes with Head of Sales approval, ensuring all terms, conditions, and SLAs are legally sound

Coordinate seamlessly with consulting and training teams on handovers, introductions, and project setup

Track and meet weekly KPI targets while gathering monthly client reviews and managing expense submissions

Identify marketing, advertising, and entertainment opportunities that drive business growth

WHAT YOU BRING

Matric qualification (essential)

SAMTRAC certification

Minimum 3–5 years sales experience with at least 2 years in the health and safety industry

3 years health and safety consulting experience

A reliable car, valid driver’s license, and genuine willingness to travel regularly between locations

Fluency in at least 2 South African national languages, with English as one

Strong computer literacy and CRM proficiency

Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple client relationships simultaneously
