CORE PURPOSE

This role steers the audit function end‑to‑end: managing engagements independently, driving rigorous quality, shaping service delivery, and growing revenue – all while leading and developing a high‑performing professional team. Expect a blend of technical depth, client-facing responsibility, and genuine strategic input.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Producing Quality Work

  • Lead audit engagements from planning through to completion in line with IRBA, IFRS and ISA requirements
  • Oversee audit planning, execution and reporting across a varied portfolio
  • Ensure accurate, compliant, and well‑documented audit files
  • Perform technical reviews and embed strong audit quality control processes
  • Client Service & Advisory
  • Manage client expectations and deliver consistently professional, value‑adding service
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with owner‑managed businesses, trusts and other entities
  • Identify client needs and provide strategic, commercially focused recommendations
  • Act as a trusted adviser across audit, tax, and broader business matters
  • Growing Fees & Business Development
  • Spot and convert new business opportunities within existing and prospective clients
  • Contribute to and drive business development strategies and growth plans
  • Prepare compelling proposals and actively participate in pitches and presentations
  • Expand service lines across tax, advisory and consulting for a generalist client base
  • Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, mentor and develop audit managers and junior staff
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and technical guidance
  • Build a collaborative, high-performance culture with strong accountability
  • Champion best practice, professional ethics and independence across the team

REQUIREMENTS

  • Registered Auditor (IRBA) – compulsory
  • Chartered Accountant CA(SA) – compulsory
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a management role within an audit firm
  • Strong, proven track record managing audit engagements from planning to completion
  • Solid experience across: tax, trusts, owner‑managed businesses, consulting with clients, and audit as a generalist
  • Extensive knowledge of audit methodologies, IFRS, ISA and relevant regulatory frameworks
