Job Details

The ideal candidate will fulfill the role of Production Assistant. You will supplement and report to the Production Technician.

We are looking for a young and dynamic individual to join our team and help us grow further.

Lastly, the ideal candidate should be aware that the role shall be at most times demand outdoor work and they will work with bitumen and bituminous products, so we are looking for someone who doesn’t mind getting their hands dirty! And being in D59 worksuit and having their shoes sticky…..

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Requires bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching and standing.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Be actively involved in mixing and running of production plant(s).This includes but is not limited to Bitumen Emulsion productions, Cold Mix Asphalt Productions – QA/QC, Cold Mix Asphalt packaging – QA/QC.
  • Conduct trials and Mixes in Lab – Use trial findings on main production plant.
  • Follow general lab procedures and responsibilities.
  • Maintaining, calibrating, cleaning, and testing sterility of the equipment
  • Perform day to day testing and approval of final product in production warehouse by performing routine inspection of mixing process, as well as lab analysis (ph., viscosity, etc.).
  • Regular reporting on results, production runs, etc.  to Production Technician and Managing Director
  • Report writing
  • Stocktaking and collaborating with sales on targets and requests.
  • Follow and improve on SOPs & SWOPs

Desired:

  • Knowledge of basic Microsoft Office and Email etiquette.
  • Be based in East London. Ideally, close proximity to our plant in Fort Jackson Industrial Park
  • Willing to be employed on a Fixed term contract – 6 to 12 months (w/probation). Extension review after this period depending on budget and role suitability.
  • Completed their studies in Analytical Chemistry or Chemical Engineering (including In-service training).
  • Ready for the world of work or might have had brief exposure/experience already.
  • Working hours: Full time 07:30 – 16:00 (or as communicated).
  • Physically fit 
  • Highly motivated and organized individual.
  • Ability to work independently and adhere to deadlines
  • Experience with working in a production plant, warehouse and/or lab setting (advantage)
