Channel & Key Account Manager—Forecourts

ACDOCO SA is looking for a Key Account Manager — Forecourts to own and grow our petroleum forecourt retail channel. You’ll manage relationships with major petroleum forecourt retailers (Engen, Shell, BP, Total, Sasol, and more), as well as sub-distributors who supply franchisee forecourt stores across South Africa.

What You’ll Do
- Own the forecourt channel P&L — develop and execute the sales strategy and annual business plans for petroleum forecourt retailers and their franchisee convenience store networks.
- Build winning retailer relationships — serve as the primary point of contact for forecourt head offices to drive listings, distribution, and promotional activity.
- Manage sub-distributor partnerships — oversee and grow relationships with sub-distributors who supply franchisee forecourt outlets, ensuring product availability, visibility, and compliance with trading terms.

- Drive ranging and in-store execution — ensure optimal SKU assortment, planogram compliance, and promotional display across forecourt convenience stores.
- Negotiate commercial agreements — lead negotiations on trading terms, rebates, promotional funding, and annual agreements, optimising profitability and mitigating risk.
- Analyse performance and market data — monitor sales, sell-through, and competitor activity across the forecourt channel to identify opportunities and course-correct where needed.
- Collaborate cross-functionally — work closely with marketing, supply chain, and finance to align on forecourt-specific campaigns, stock planning, and promotional ROMI.
- Report and present — deliver fortnightly updates, quarterly business reviews, and ROMI analyses to the leadership team.
What We’re Looking For
Must-haves:
- Diploma or degree in Business, Marketing, Retail Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in key account management or sales within FMCG, CPG, or retail (forecourt experience is a plus but not essential — strong retail experience is what matters).
- Proven ability to manage and grow retailer accounts, negotiate trading terms, and deliver against sales budgets.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience reading and acting on sales data, P&L performance, and promotional ROI.
- Excellent relationship-building and communication skills — you’re equally confident presenting to a retailer’s head office as you are problem-solving on the ground.
- Self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset — comfortable working in a lean, high-performing SME environment.
- Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to forecourt retailers and sub-distributors as required.
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience in the petroleum forecourt or convenience retail channel.
- Exposure to health, beauty, or OTC product categories.
- Familiarity with sub-distributor management or route-to-market models.
