Civil Engineer / Civil Engineering Technologist

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Civil Engineer or Civil Engineering Technologist to join our dynamic team commencing 01 November 2025 or as soon as possible. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Assume responsibility as Design Team Lead within the firm’s management structure, overseeing multidisciplinary design coordination and contributing to strategic project delivery.

• Lead the design and analysis of civil engineering projects across a range of disciplines, including bulk and internal municipal services (water, sewer, roads, and stormwater), bulk earthworks, building civils, structural steelwork, reinforced concrete, and water-retaining structures.
• Develop comprehensive engineering designs, technical drawings, specifications, quantity schedules, and cost estimates in accordance with project requirements and industry standards.
• Conduct site investigations and surveys to inform and support design development.
• Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure technical feasibility, regulatory compliance, and alignment with project objectives.
• Execute engineering calculations and simulations using appropriate design software and modelling tools.
• Compile detailed technical reports and documentation and represent the firm in client and stakeholder presentations.
• Support project management functions and monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with design specifications, timelines, and budgetary constraints.
• Maintain awareness of emerging technologies, industry developments, and best practices relevant to civil engineering and infrastructure delivery.

 Requirements  

• BEng/BSc Eng or BTech Eng degree in Civil Engineering.  
• Registration with ECSA as Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) or Professional Civil Engineering Technologist (Pr Tech Eng) is preferred.  
• Minimum of seven (7-10) years post qualification work experience in a consultancy environment.  
• Proficiency in civil engineering design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, IDAS).  Proficiency in other software is a plus.
• Strong understanding of engineering principles, codes, and standards.  
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.  
• Competent Technical Report writing skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and/or independently.
• Detail-oriented, enthusiastic, self-driven individual with a commitment to producing high-quality work.  
• Familiarity with project management methodologies is an advantage. 
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
