Key Account Business Developer

A fast-moving industrial packaging environment needs someone who can open doors, grow accounts, and turn opportunities into lasting commercial relationships. This role blends new business development, key account management, and market intelligence across sectors where reliable packaging and packing solutions really matter.

CORE FOCUS

You’ll drive commercial growth by winning new business, expanding existing accounts, and keeping the pipeline active across industrial and logistics markets. The work calls for sharp market awareness, strong client engagement, and a practical understanding of packaging solutions used in demanding operating environments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Source, qualify, and onboard new business through cold calling, external marketing activity, and targeted outreach

Nurture and expand the existing customer base through regular face-to-face engagement and account planning

Promote industrial packaging solutions across turnkey outsourced packaging, production and delivery only, and onsite packing services

Build revenue across contract, project, and bespoke service streams

Develop opportunities in mining, steel, freight, logistics, and other priority markets

Achieve monthly revenue targets and drive upselling of new products, materials, and solutions

Re-engage dormant or lost business and convert it into active revenue

Represent the business at trade shows and industry events

Manage sales administration, CRM and ERP reporting, and weekly sales activity updates

Maintain accurate lead generation records and support adoption of the commercial lead system

Monitor system performance, sales activity, and conversion trends

Gather market intelligence on customers, competitors, pricing, and industry shifts

Analyse customer pain points and recommend suitable solutions

Support new product and business development through customer insight and market feedback

Identify new markets, customer segments, and growth opportunities

Contribute to R&D budget planning and spend decisions

Track sales results against quota and develop action plans where performance gaps appear

Work closely with marketing on lead-generation initiatives and campaign support

Keep technical and commercial knowledge current through workshops, publications, and industry learning

Manage strategic key accounts with a focus on retention, growth, and long-term value

Develop account plans tailored to each major client’s business needs and operational realities

Coordinate internal delivery to ensure quality, compliance, timelines, and site productivity

Maintain high standards on site and manage people effectively where required

REQUIREMENTS

Degree in Business/Project/Production Management or Key Account Management

Proven experience in Key Account Management, Industrial Sales or Business Development 

Strong track record in solution selling and revenue growth

Familiarity with packaging, manufacturing, mining, steel, logistics, or related industrial sectors

Confident communicator with strong client-facing and relationship-building skills

Comfortable working with CRM and ERP systems, reports, and sales data

Commercially sharp, organised, and able to balance new business with account stewardship

Willingness to travel for client visits, site engagement, and trade events
