Main purpose of the job:

To strengthen our position primarily in the South African home leading to revenue and profit growth.  Improvement areas should be identified focusing on market competitiveness, LEAN methodology and technological advancements.  In addition to partnering with our group functions and sister companies to develop a market leading product and service offering.

Responsibilities:

  • As the Managing Director you will report into Board having full P&L responsibility for the SA business, including financial investments & future acquisitions.
  • To lead the business both operationally and commercially be responsible for delivering revenue and budget requirements.
  • To develop achievable plans, forecasts, business cases and strategies through effective strategic direction, management, and leadership.
  • In working in collaboration with our SOE (BEE) RTM channel, you will be responsible for:
    • To grow the core AVK business to profitability.
    • To grow in our core segments and sales channels.
    • To develop our routes to market and market position to become the preferred SA valve partner.
  • Through effective and efficient leadership, clear communication and management, the adoption of best practice processes and procedures ensure that the organisational structure, capability and capacity are appropriate for the chosen strategy; and report regularly to the board.
  • To create a landscape and culture of continuous improvement using lean methodology for all team members, processes and procedures. Ensure that productivity improvement is understood by all as a key measurement of individual, team and business unit success.
  • To develop a strategy that will produce exceptional customer service.
  • To Identify, review and evaluate on a regular basis, present and future market opportunities, threats and risks.
  • To develop partnerships, associations and alliances to further the profitable growth and ensure of all company UK businesses.
  • To champion customer engagement.
  • To create an effective and supportive landscape of open and honest communication between all team members.
  • To create a capacity for innovation deep within the company.
  • At all times act as an ambassador of the companies vision, strategy and behavioural values.
  • Although reporting into a board, this is an autonomous role where you will be responsible for making all commercial and operational decisions in managing, leading, growing and driving the business forward.
