Project Engineer

CORE FOCUS

This role centres on managing multi-million rand machinery and technology projects from concept through to sign-off, ensuring everything runs on time, within budget, and to world-class standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversee installations of high-value manufacturing machinery and new technology on site

Manage assigned engineering and technical projects from planning to commissioning

Drive customer satisfaction across all engineering projects and technical deliveries

Develop and implement detailed project schedules, forecasts, and timelines

Coordinate, review, and sign off engineering deliverables and technical documentation

Compile clear monthly project status reports, including change orders and risks

Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate both technical and management aspects of projects

Assist in preparing proposals for engineering projects and new machine acquisitions

Support pricing, estimating, and scoping strategies for proposed projects

Help develop and prepare technical specifications for machinery and systems

Assist in preparing or modifying reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, and designs

Contribute to environmental impact, permitting, and compliance-related project documentation

Ensure successful implementation and handover of engineering projects into production

Communicate extensively with clients, external customers, and suppliers, locally and internationally

Travel to overseas machine manufacturers to specify, inspect, and sign off equipment

Take end-to-end responsibility for commissioning and stable running of multi-million rand machinery

REQUIREMENTS

BSc Mechanical or Mechatronics degree

3 – 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally high-volume or FMCG-related

Project Management Diploma or similar would be advantageous
