Education: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree (NQF level 7) in Law / Security / Forensics / Criminology / Risk Management
  • PSIRA Grade A

Legal Requirements:

  • Safety Management Training Course (SAMTRAC) Certified
  • Safety, Health, Environment, Risk and Quality (SHERQ) Certified
  • Code 08 Driver’s Licence

Experience: 

  • 5 years’ experience in security / law enforcement
  • 2 years’ supervisory experience
  • Experience in implementing security protocols
  • Knowledge of the following safety procedures: Security, Fire and Emergency Procedures, Occupational Health and Safety. 

Position Description:

Development of a Security Strategy and Procedures: 

  • Develops and implements Afrirent’s security strategy, operational plans, policies, procedures, standards and protocols in accordance with legislation, security structures and standards
  • Develops and manages the implementation of security measures, policies and procedures to protect Afrirent’s employees, assets and stakeholders
  • Keeps abreast of the latest developments and implementation of security controls
  • Monitors and stays current on the latest technical advances in security-related assets to ensure that Afrirent’s physical security infrastructure is effective and up to date
  • Ensures that standard procedures for all security-related issues are in place and periodically updated
  • Manages the development of effective technology solutions and innovations in security management techniques to safeguard Afrirent assets, including intellectual property
  • Designs a security risk management program and implementation thereof
  • Plans, programs for, and directs the total physical security effort for Afrirent

Security Management and Operations

  • Facilitates and implements Minimum Physical Security Standards (MPSS) and Minimum Information Security Standards (MISS)
  • Conducts security risk-assessments to ensure that appropriate measures are put into place to protect visitors, staff, buildings, information and assets
  • Coordinates the provision, management, and control of security services within Afrirent
  • Develops, implements and manages multi-location security systems
  • Manages the delivery of security services to all Afrirent locations
  • Develops a process to continuously streamline electronic security to achieve best practice outcomes
  • Manages existing human resources at all locations to ensure that business needs are achieved
  • Drafts security risk management and investigative reports for submission to line management
  • Manages the security requirements for special events
  • Implements the continuous improvement of systems
  • Responds to security incidents and breaches effectively and limits Afrirent’s exposure, liability and reputational risk
  • Maintains a database of security related information, CCTV, Access, ID’s and site plans to assist in strategic decisions, CAPEX Planning and OPEX Budgets for the Security Department
  • Plans, programs for, and directs Afrirent’s emergency response program as it pertains to security and liaison with local medical emergency response
  • Ensures the provision of adequate security in all Afrirent office

Budget Management

  • Manages the security budget and assumes accountability with regards to expenditure

Stakeholder Management and Collaboration

  • Collaborates with all business units to assess and advise on security needs e.g. data centres, storage locations
  • Collaborates with the teams to develop detailed security plans which incorporates routes, destinations and enhances route optimisation / journey management
  • Conducts intelligence gathering, related to crime trends and analyses intelligence which impacts on the business
  • Builds and manages relationships with senior police and intelligence officials
  • Manages and assists in investigations, both criminal and forensic
  • Assists and advises management in the development of emergency plans, practices and procedures
  • Develops security education programs for management and employees to establish and improve security awareness
  • Coordinates with management on matters pertaining to access control and other security-related issues for all Afrirent facilities

People Management

  • Leads, develops and motivates a high performing team, engendering a culture of excellence, accountability, and transparency, including responsibility for the career development and performance management of the security team
  • Monitors and evaluates the overall performance of the team to enhance the quality of service and effective use of resources
  • Ensures the personal development of individuals within the department as aligned to Afrirent’s strategic plan

Administration and Reporting

  • Compiles and submits comprehensive monthly, quarterly and annual reports of all security-related issues
  • Conducts investigations into all accidents and incidents, records and reports on findings
