Role Purpose

The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the design, security, stability, and operational resilience of the enterprise network environment. The role combines core networking, network security, monitoring, and senior incident ownership to ensure high availability and business continuity across multi-site connectivity, data centre networks, and internet edge services. Success is measured by meeting agreed availability and performance targets, timely resolution of P1/P2 incidents, and delivery of secure, well-documented network changes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, and support enterprise LAN, WAN, and Wi‑Fi environments
  • Configure and administer switches, routers, firewalls, and network redundancy
  • Manage VLANs, IP addressing, routing, NAT, and network segmentation
  • Implement secure application and API connectivity (DNS, reverse proxy/WAF, VPN, and firewall policy) in partnership with security and application teams
  • Implement and maintain network monitoring and observability (SNMP, health, and capacity monitoring)
  • Own investigation and resolution of high‑severity network incidents (P1/P2) end-to-end
  • Perform root‑cause analysis and drive corrective and preventative actions
  • Maintain and improve network documentation, diagrams, and standards
  • Participate in an after‑hours support rotation (planned standby and incident response) as required

Minimum Requirements

  • 7+ years experience as a Network Engineer in an enterprise environment
  • Financial services or highly regulated environments
  • Strong hands‑on experience with routing, switching and enterprise LAN/WAN
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6, VLANs, QoS, MPLS and VPN technologies
  • Experience with firewalling and network security concepts
  • Experience with enterprise monitoring and troubleshooting tools
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation and communication skills

Certifications (Advantageous)

  • CCNP or equivalent
  • Network security or wireless certifications
