Are you a technically strong commercial underwriter with deep expertise in Motor Traders, fleets and complex motor risks?

What you’ll do

• Underwrite new and existing Transporters, Logistics, Motor Traders, fleet and aggregate motor business within delegated authority
• Assess medium to highly complex risks to achieve strong underwriting performance and profitability
• Manage technical referrals and provide well-supported underwriting recommendations
• Review survey reports and recommend practical risk mitigation measures
• Support reinsurance referrals and placements where required
• Provide technical guidance on policy wording, endorsements, warranties, deductibles and claims interpretation
• Monitor portfolio performance and contribute to product and proposition development
• Coach and mentor junior underwriters while maintaining excellent service to brokers and internal stakeholders

What you’ll bring

• Grade 12, with a relevant insurance qualification at NQF Level 6 preferred
• At least 5 years’ commercial underwriting experience
• FAIS compliance with a minimum of 60 credits and a completed Regulatory Examination qualification
• Specialist experience in Motor Traders risks, including vehicle stock, demonstration vehicles, road risks, premises exposure, liability and related commercial motor exposures
• Strong knowledge of motor fleets, aggregate motor policies, reinsurance principles and South African insurance regulation
• Sound commercial judgement, financial acumen and the ability to make confident decisions within delegated authority
• A collaborative approach, strong attention to detail and the ability to manage priorities independently
