Role Overview

We are looking for a hands-on, reliable, and resourceful Bookkeeper to take full ownership of the company’s financial administration while also supporting operational functions, including stock control and light warehouse coordination.

This is not a desk-bound bookkeeping role. The successful candidate must be willing to step into the warehouse, manage stock, and contribute across the business where needed

Key Responsibilities

Bookkeeping & Finance

  • Full bookkeeping function
  • Capturing supplier and customer invoices
  • Bank reconciliations and transaction processing
  • VAT submissions and basic SARS compliance
  • Payroll processing and related submissions
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records
  • Generating basic management reports (P&L, balance sheet)
  • Assisting with monthly cash flow tracking and forecasting

Stock & Warehouse Oversight

  • Managing and maintaining accurate stock records
  • Conducting regular stock takes
  • Reconciling stock discrepancies
  • Ensuring warehouse organisation and control processes are followed
  • Supporting basic job/work order coordination (low volume)

Administration & Operations

  • Filing and document management
  • Assisting with general business administration
  • Supporting ad hoc operational tasks when required
  • Answering phones or assisting with general office duties if needed

Minimum Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Bookkeeper (preferably in an SME environment)
  • Mandatory: Experience with stock control and stock taking
  • Experience using accounting software (Sage or Pastel highly preferred)
  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles (debits, credits, reconciliations)
  • Ability to produce basic financial reports
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to take ownership

 Preferred (Not Essential)

  • Experience with Sage Accounting / Sage One
  • Experience in a small business where multiple roles were required
  • Exposure to cash flow forecasting or budgeting
  • Understanding of warehouse or operational environments
