Job Purpose / Mission

An exciting opportunity exists for a creative and innovative Marketing Assistant to join a dynamic retail head office environment. Reporting directly to the Marketing Manager – Retail, the successful candidate will support the execution of marketing initiatives, maintain brand integrity, and drive communication across all retail stores and digital platforms.

Key Responsibilities
Social Media & Digital Marketing

  • Execute the social media strategy across all platforms to support sales growth, customer satisfaction, and brand awareness.

  • Implement brand communications and media activity across all digital channels.

  • Create visually appealing, engaging, and authentic content that aligns with each store’s identity.

  • Ensure all content is timely, relevant, and consistent with the brand’s tone of voice.

  • Assist with managing social media accounts, including scheduling, engagement monitoring, audience insights, and performance analysis.

  • Flag and escalate negative customer comments where necessary.

  • Maintain and update all social media platforms regularly.

  • Update, maintain, and improve the company website with relevant promotions and content.

Brand & Campaign Management

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of brand management and brand awareness initiatives.

  • Ensure alignment between digital marketing and traditional marketing activities.

  • Assist in managing the creation of in-store marketing displays, digital campaigns, and social media adverts.

  • Manage campaign instructions, rollout elements, and ensure accurate implementation.

  • Coordinate and manage customer competitions, promotions, and incentive programmes, including communication and follow-through.

  • Keep marketing content calendars updated for all stores.

Internal & External Coordination

  • Liaise with store managers to collect content, competition details, images, and information needed for campaigns.

  • Support store managers with required marketing materials for promotions.

  • Follow up with external vendors (e.g., printers, photographers) to ensure timely delivery of marketing assets.

  • Manage and maintain customer databases to ensure accuracy and relevance.

  • Professionally handle customer queries and complaints in a timeous manner.

  • Manage internal and external communication professionally and efficiently.

General Marketing Support

  • Understand the company’s products and market trends.

  • Assist in project management from concept to completion.

Minimum Requirements
Education & Training

  • Matric (Grade 12)

  • Marketing Diploma/Degree or currently studying towards a related qualification

Experience

  • Proven experience in marketing execution for a company

  • Experience in social media management and content creation

Knowledge & Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in design software (Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator, or similar)

  • Strong understanding of social media platforms

  • Proficiency in MS Office

  • Excellent typing and computer literacy

  • Strong analytical and decision-making abilities

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
