Our client is a unique wildlife-focused community nestled in the heart of the Greater Kruger conservation area. They manage a blend of residential and operational functions for their members and strive to maintain a seamless, nature-aligned experience for all stakeholders.

 

Role Overview

They are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Bookkeeping & Financial Administration Officer to oversee the day-to-day financial and administrative functions of the reserve. This role supports the General Manager/Warden and Financial Director, ensuring accurate bookkeeping, timely reporting, efficient shop inventory control, and professional member services.

Key Responsibilities

Financial & Accounting Administration

  • Maintain accurate daily bookkeeping and cashbook updates
  • Prepare and input payroll data for salary processing and statutory submissions (VAT, IRP5, UIF, etc.)
  • Reconcile creditor accounts, monitor income vs. budget, and control petty cash
  • Perform monthly reconciliations and assist with management accounts preparation
  • Monitor member levy invoicing, payments, and collections
  • Assist in budget preparation from a zero base annually

Inventory & Shop Management

  • Administer shop sales and maintain accurate inventory records
  • Conduct monthly stock counts and ensure controls are in place

 Member & Office Support

  • Respond professionally to member queries (calls and emails)
  • Update member files and manage share sales documentation
  • Assist in tracking electricity consumption for cost centres and invoicing accordingly
  • Ensure insurance records are maintained and accurately split for invoicing

Reporting & Compliance

  • Prepare audit source documentation and support year-end processes
  • Submit VAT returns and other compliance reports timeously
  • Maintain asset register and depreciation schedules

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of a Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Bookkeeping, Finance, or a related field
  • At least 3–5 years of relevant experience in bookkeeping or financial administration
  • Proficiency with accounting software, particularly Xero, or a willingness to upskill quickly
  • Understanding of VAT, PAYE, UIF, and South African payroll regulations (advantageous)
  • Strong computer literacy, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Experience with inventory and stock control processes (advantageous)
  • Previous experience in a remote, hospitality, or conservation environment is a bonus
  • Valid South African driver’s licence is an advantage
