Operations Manager

Purpose

To lead the planning, executing, and overseeing logistics operations across mine and staging sites. The role is responsible for optimizing resource allocation, managing daily production, ensuring compliance, and maintaining operational excellence through effective site and risk management.

Roles & Responsibilities

·        Develop and communicate detailed action plans for daily logistics operations.

·        Ensure operational plans are communicated effectively.

·        Oversee all staging areas across Northern Cape projects.

·        Ensure efficient staging processes, FIFO compliance, and truck adherence to policies and procedures.

·        Enforce project-specific compliance requirements.

·        Ensure max TAT for loading of under 2 hours for non-South 32 mines.

·        Monitor and ensure trucks achieve a Turnaround Time (TAT) of under 4 hours from staging to mine departure.

·        Ensure loading targets are met hourly.

·        Coordinate with Long Haul (LH) Production Team and Tracking Office as needed.

·        Oversee accurate and timely preparation of shift loading reports against set targets.

·        Identify and address variances in production or performance.

·        Prepare detailed and professional monthly NC operational reports.

·        Maintain a fully functional work environment including fatigue areas, training areas, driver facilities, lighting,        generators, and dust suppression systems, where needed.

·        Achieve and maintain 95% compliance in internal and external SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, Quality) audits, including ISO standards.

·        Lead risk identification, mitigation strategies, and closure activities.

·        Recruit, train, develop, increase/maintain high morale, and discipline employees to ensure adequate staffing and high performing team.

Skills Required

·        Minimum 5 years’ experience in logistics or operational leadership, preferably in the mining or transport industry.

·        Matric.
