Commercial Project Engineer

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Get involved across the full project lifecycle, from concept to commissioning, with a strong blend of technical, commercial and stakeholder coordination.

Assist with planning and coordinating engineering, commercial, customer and technical projects within the division

Support machine and automation design initiatives, contributing to layouts, concepts and improvements

Develop and implement project schedules, forecasts and dependencies to keep deliverables firmly on track

Coordinate and monitor engineering outputs and stakeholder commitments, identifying risks early

Compile weekly and monthly project status reports, including change orders and key metrics

Hold stakeholders accountable to critical milestones and highlight potential delays or bottlenecks

Plan, schedule, conduct and coordinate the technical and management aspects of multiple projects

Assist with pricing, estimating and scoping strategies for proposed projects

Help prepare and motivate CAPEX submissions, ensuring strong technical and commercial justification

Maintain and monitor project budgets, flagging potential overruns and proposing corrective action

Maintain the division’s Assets Under Construction (AUC) register until final sign-off and capitalisation

Assist with preparing or modifying reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, permits and designs

Contribute to environmental impact and compliance-related documentation where required

Communicate extensively with project customers and suppliers, both locally and internationally

REQUIREMENTS

Bring solid engineering foundations, structured project thinking and a keen commercial eye.

BEng Industrial Engineering

Project Management Diploma advantageous

2 – 3 years’ project management experience advantageous

Proven competency in 3D CAD design (AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks)

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Project or equivalent planning tools

Able to communicate effectively and professionally at all organisational levels

Familiar with ISO procedures and quality systems

Confident negotiator with a logical, rational approach to problem-solving

Highly computer literate, with strong Excel skills

Assertive, forthright, enthusiastic and self-driven

Strong financial and commercial aptitude with excellent numeracy

Comfortable working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
