This fully remote leadership role oversees the academic programme for Grades 4–9 within an online school environment, with a strong focus on academic quality, learner progress and educator support. It suits an experienced education leader who is comfortable working independently, managing a team and helping shape a school model designed for online learning.

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Lead and manage a team of educators across Grades 4–9
  • Set clear academic standards while supporting a collaborative, accountable team culture
  • Oversee curriculum mapping, coursework development, assessments, moderation, textbooks and academic resources
  • Monitor learner performance and progression, including benchmarking assessments and learners of concern
  • Work closely with senior academic leadership to ensure alignment between Grades 4–9 and Grades 10–12
  • Support educator workflow, provide regular feedback and identify professional development opportunities
  • Assist with performance management processes where needed
  • Maintain quality across workshops, masterclasses, reporting and other academic touchpoints
  • Oversee academic functionality within school management systems
  • Explore digital tools and resources that strengthen teaching and learning
  • Support the recruitment and selection of new educators

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • A recognised teaching qualification and relevant degree
  • At least 5 years of teaching experience, ideally across different environments, curricula and online settings
  • At least 2 years of academic leadership or management experience at Head of Academics level or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum design, assessment, moderation and learner progression
  • Confidence working with systems, processes and academic planning
  • High levels of initiative, independence and ownership
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially in a remote working environment
  • A collaborative approach with the ability to lead to high standards

NICE TO HAVE

  • Experience in fully online schooling
  • Familiarity with digital platforms and tools that support teaching and learning
  • Exposure to varied curricula and educational contexts
