Accountant

Purpose

The Accountant is responsible for supporting the Financial Controller in maintaining the accuracy, integrity and completeness of the company’s financial records. The role focuses on general ledger management, reconciliations, financial reporting support and statutory compliance, ensuring that financial information is reliable and produced within required deadlines. The Accountant acts as a key operational support to the Financial Controller, assisting with financial operations, resolving finance-related queries and ensuring finance processes run efficiently.

 Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting and reconciliations

• Ability to analyse financial data and identify discrepancies or anomalies
• Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy in financial processing and reporting
• Ability to manage multiple financial processes and meet strict reporting deadlines
• Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel for financial analysis and reporting
• Strong problem-solving ability when investigating variances or financial queries
• Ability to communicate financial information clearly to internal stakeholders
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and integrity when handling financial information

Requirements 

• Relevant BCom Degree with Accounting
• 3–5 years accounting experience
• Experience with general ledger, reconciliations and month-end processes
• Experience in manufacturing / retail environment advantageous
• Accounting principles and financial reporting
• ERP / Accounting systems
• Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
• VAT and statutory compliance requirements
