Accounting & Taxation Lecturer

Higher education needs lecturers who can bring numbers to life – turning Tax Acts, audit standards, and financial statements into lightbulb moments for students getting ready for the real world of business, accounting, and finance. This role sits at the heart of that journey, shaping future professionals through engaging teaching, solid academic mentorship, and relevant, industry-aligned content.

CORE FOCUS

This role centres on delivering high-quality teaching across Accounting, Taxation, Auditing, and Financial Management modules, while actively contributing to research, curriculum development, and the broader academic life of a modern private higher education institution.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Teaching & Learning

Design, prepare, and deliver lectures, seminars, tutorials, and practical sessions across undergraduate and postgraduate levels

Develop engaging course materials, assessments, case studies, and teaching aids aligned to current industry and professional standards

Supervise student projects, dissertations, and research work, guiding students to produce work that is both academically rigorous and practically relevant

Provide academic advising, mentoring, and constructive feedback to support students’ academic progress and professional growth

Research & Scholarship

Engage in independent and collaborative research in Accounting, Taxation, Auditing, or related areas

Publish in peer-reviewed journals and present at academic or industry conferences

Contribute to research funding applications and participate in funded research projects where applicable

Stay current with legislative, regulatory, and professional developments in taxation, auditing, IFRS, financial management, and management accounting

ADMINISTRATION & ACADEMIC SERVICE

Participate actively in departmental meetings, programme reviews, and curriculum development initiatives

Contribute to quality assurance, accreditation, and compliance processes within the institution

Support student recruitment, open days, and outreach activities, showcasing the strength and relevance of the programmes

Serve on departmental or institutional committees and support community engagement initiatives

You will cover a mix of senior undergraduate and postgraduate modules, including:

Taxation 621 and Taxation 731

Auditing 621 and Auditing 731

Accounting 621 and Accounting 731

Financial Management & Management Accounting 621 and 731

REQUIREMENTS

Honours degree in Accounting, Taxation, Auditing, Finance, or a closely related field (Master’s degree an advantage)

Prior tertiary teaching experience preferred, especially in a private higher education or university setting

Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to break down complex concepts clearly

Solid research and analytical abilities, with interest in building a research profile

Excellent organisational and time-management skills to balance teaching, assessment, research, and admin
