The Opportunity

We are looking for an Auxiliary Social Worker to join our dynamic team at the Kay Mason Foundation. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about youth development, transforming lives and thrives in a creative, dynamic, collaborative, and fast paced environment. You will be hands on, working with our scholars, alumni, and parents as part of the social development team, to ensure that our scholars and alumni achieve their full potential.  You will also work with external role players and members from other departments within the organisation.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the social development personnel.
  • Assist with planning and implementation of programs, events, outings, camps, and activities.
  • Liaise and communicate with external resources, scholars, parents, and alumni as required.
  • Plan and implement interventions for scholars and alumni.
  • Assist with the planning, management and financial management for all social development programs.
  • Accompany scholars and alumni to events, outings, activities and appointments.
  • Assist with the monitoring and evaluation of scholar functioning and progress, as well as program effectiveness.
  • Manage scholar, alumni, and program administration.

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Relevant qualification as an auxiliary social worker, or related field.
  • 3+ years’ experience as an auxiliary social worker.   
  • A background in youth development and education would be an advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to:
    • develop, implement and coordinate programs
    • interact, connect, and communicate very effectively with a wide range of individuals
    • manage administrative responsibilities
    • facilitate workshops or events
  • Excellent communication and interaction skills are essential.
  • Excellent planning and project management skills are essential.
  • Excellent administrative skills, which includes computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) are essential.
  • Ability to implement multiple projects with attention to detail and deadlines. Organised and able to think ahead.  
  • Ability to work independently as well as a positive member of the team.
  • Passionate about youth development in South Africa, social impact, and building meaningful connections.
  • Passionate about supporting a social work team.
  • Focussed on excellence and quality in everything you do.
  • Ability to positively deal with change and / or crisis situations.
